Job summary

Checkout.com in Dubai seeks an experienced Internal Audit Manager to lead the MENA internal audit function. You will plan and execute audits across Treasury, Finance, Operations and Compliance, reporting to the Global Head of Internal Audit.

Based in Dubai, you will drive risk-based assurance in a fast-paced fintech environment. The role requires a university degree, 12+ years of audit experience in tech/fintech, UAE regulatory knowledge, and professional certifications (CIA/CPA/CA/CAMS).

Qualifications

• University degree and 12+ years of audit experience in tech/fintech or regulated financial institutions in MENA.
• Proven track record in leading and delivering multiple audit engagements.
• Subject matter expertise in operational, finance, treasury and/or compliance (AML/CFT).
• Knowledge of UAE regulatory frameworks (CB UAE, DIFC, ADGM) with regulator interaction.
• Professional certifications such as CIA/CPA/CA/CAMS are essential.
• Proficiency in data analytics and visualization tools to support audits.

Responsibilities

• Develop annual audit plan for MENA entities, update audit universe, and perform risk assessments.
• Lead and oversee execution of audits across Treasury, Finance, Operations, and Compliance.
• Document findings and communicate risks to senior management and boards.
• Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and report to Risk Committees.
• Enhance audit methodology, ensure adherence to IIA standards and UAE regulations.
• Collaborate with Board and regulators, acting as trusted advisor to the business.

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Internal Audit Manager to join the Internal Audit function for Checkout MENA and report directly to the Global Head of Internal Audit. This critical role ensures the independent and objective assurance of Checkout.com’s governance, risk management, and control environment.

Based in Dubai, the role will be an important part of the Internal Audit team, working to deliver audits on various business areas, including Treasury, Finance, Operations and Compliance. The ideal candidate will be a confident, experienced audit individual with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and one who is able to demonstrate the ability to effectively plan for and deliver the audit plan in a fast‑paced environment. You will act as the senior lead for Internal Audit for Checkout MENA, driving our ambitious expansion goals in a fast‑paced, regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:

As the primary Internal Audit point of contact for Checkout MENA, your key responsibilities will include:

• Develop the annual audit plan for the MENA legal entities including developing and updating the audit universe and completing risk assessment processes.
• Support the implementation and operation of the internal audit assurance framework, including development of continuous improvement monitoring and automated audit routines (using AI / Data Analytics).
• Hands‑on delivery and oversight of the audit plan to ensure timely and relevant audit outcomes.
• Effectively document and communicate key audit findings and identified risk exposures to senior management, regional Board and Risk Committee(s).
• Monitor the implementation of Internal Audit findings by the teams, measure the effectiveness of the improvements and report to oversight committees.
• Develop strong relationships internally and externally, including with the Board and local regulator. Be seen as a trusted advisor to the business.
• Promote and help embed a strong control culture, driving meaningful and relevant assurance programs.
• Periodically evaluate and enhance the audit methodology and tools, ensuring strict adherence to industry standards (including IIA standards), applicable regulations, and Checkout.com IA methodologies. Supports Quality Assurance processes in preparation of Internal & External Quality Reviews.
• Ensuring the company's risk management strategy and audit activities are fully aligned with UAE regulatory expectations.
• Lead the continuous monitoring and updating of assigned risk assessments within the Continuous Risk Assessment framework to ensure timely identification of changes in MENA’s risk profiles and their seamless integration into the audit plan.

Qualifications

• A university degree and a minimum of 12 years of audit experience, with a proven track record working within technology, fintech, payments, or broader regulated financial institutions within the MENA region.
• Proven track record in managing, leading, and delivering the audit plan, including the planning, staffing, and reporting of multiple engagements.
• Subject matter expertise auditing operational, finance, treasury, and/or compliance (AML/CFT) processes.
• Working knowledge of UAE regulatory frameworks (including CBUAE, DIFC, or ADGM) with direct experience interacting with entity Boards, Risk Committees, and regional regulators.
• Professional certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) are essential.
• Proficiency in data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or Python) to support automated audit routines, control testing, and insights‑driven reporting.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and reporting skills, with the ability to summarize complex audit findings succinctly for cross‑functional audiences.
• Highly reliable and autonomous professional with the sound judgment needed to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience in people management and team leadership is highly desirable.
