Job description

The Senior Manager – HSE is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization’s health, safety, and environmental management systems. This role sets strategic direction, drives a proactive safety culture, ensures legal and regulatory compliance, and provides leadership in reducing risk across all operations. The position acts as a key advisor to executive leadership on all HSE matters

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HSE Leadership:

  • Develop and execute long-term HSE strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Champion a culture of safety, sustainability, and environmental stewardship at all levels of the organization.

Policy & System Development:

  • Oversee the design, rollout, and governance of robust HSE policies, programs, and systems.
  • Ensure integration of HSE management systems (ISO 45001, ISO 14001) across sites and functions

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable HSE laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Lead enterprise-level risk assessments and facilitate implementation of control measures to reduce operational risks.

Incident Management and Reporting:

  • Supervise investigations of critical incidents, ensure root cause analysis is conducted, and drive systemic corrective actions.
  • Report key HSE metrics and trends to senior leadership and regulatory bodies as required.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Manage and mentor a team of HSE professionals across various levels
  • Build organizational capability through training, coaching, and succession planning.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Liaise with external agencies, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholders on HSE matters.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (operations, HR, engineering) to embed HSE principles in all business functions.

Audit and Performance Monitoring:

  • Oversee internal and third-party HSE audits and inspections, ensuring action plans are implemented.
  • Monitor performance through KPIs, dashboards, and benchmarking data to drive improvement.
  • Lead development of emergency response plans and crisis management protocols.
  • Ensure readiness through simulations, drills, and post-incident evaluations.

Sustainability and Environmental Initiatives:

  • Drive sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction, emissions control, and resource efficiency.
  • Ensure alignment with environmental standards and corporate ESG goals.

Budget and Resource Planning:

  • Prepare and manage the HSE department’s annual budget.
  • Ensure adequate allocation of resources to support safety programs and compliance initiatives

Desired Experience
The ideal Senior Manager - HSE should have 15-20 years of experience in health & safety. Prior experience working in a warehouse or distribution center environment in a similar role or related position is preferred
