Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. in United Arab Emirates, Dubai is seeking a Lighting Designer with a balanced mix of technical design and professional competencies.

You will lead lighting concepts from schematic design through construction, prepare photometric calculations, and design control systems integrated with BMS. The role requires collaboration with interior designers, architects, and contractors, mentoring junior staff, and coordinating deliverables to program and budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or Interior Design with strong lighting component.
• 8-12 years of dedicated lighting design experience, with at least 5 years in the Middle East or Gulf region.
• Portfolio demonstrating completed projects across hospitality, cultural, retail, or mixed-use sectors at a senior design level.
• ALD, IALD Member/Associate, or LC designation preferred.
• Experience with luxury hospitality or high-end residential projects is a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead lighting design concepts from early schematic stage through construction documentation and site completion.
• Prepare detailed photometric calculations, lighting layouts, luminaire schedules, and dimming control schematics using AGi32, DIALux Evo, or Relux.
• Design DALI-2, DMX/RDM, Casambi, and KNX lighting control systems integrated with BMS and smart building platforms.
• Select and specify architectural luminaires, custom fittings, and decorative light art pieces in collaboration with interior designers and architects.
• Prepare lighting mood boards, rendered visualisations, and design narratives for client presentations and approvals.
• Coordinate with structural, MEP, and joinery contractors on lighting details.
• Act as primary lighting consultant contact for clients and project teams.
• Manage lighting design deliverables to program and budget; coordinate with multi-discipline teams.
• Support business development through technical proposals and client presentations; mentor juniors.
