Position Summary- This dynamic role with direct exposure to the business will be part of a team of lawyers based in VEON’s Dubai Headquarters, providing legal support on all M&A transactions undertaken by the VEON Group. In addition, the role covers support of Group level commercial projects.
- You will be a part of a team involved in strategic and impactful projects. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel M&A, Digital and Special Projects, you will be providing support for a wide variety of functions and/or divisions within VEON, including Group Executives and OpCo Management teams.
- The role involves dealing with M&A, special projects and commercial matters including those involving very complex issues in a variety of jurisdictions, including those in VEON’s emerging market footprint.
Key Responsibilities:- Responsible for high visibility M&A and strategic projects.
- Independent legal support for M&A. In addition, the role will support strategic and/or high value commercial projects at the Group level.
- Working with various stakeholders in the organization, including Group executives, local company management teams and other functions such as finance, compliance, commercial and technical teams.
- Supporting the company’s M&A strategy requiring quick adaptation to an international and fast-changing environment.
- Provide high quality and pragmatic legal and strategic advice working with external counsel.
- Supporting internal digital initiatives, including the development of existing and new digital businesses within the VEON Group to unlock their full growth and market potential.
- Willingness to familiarize yourself with and take on additional tasks within the Legal team.
- Managing external counsel, providing clear instructions, work scope and budget.
Critical Skills & Experience- Experience in M&A and corporate law, preferably gained in a top tier international law firm or multinational corporate environment.
- Able to be proactive, autonomous, with a solution-oriented and think out of the box mindset, as well as a team player.
- Good drafting and project management skills.
- Ability to drive complex transaction structuring.
- Able to handle multiple tasks, while meeting deadlines and ability to work under pressure.
- Role is based at VEON’s Headquarters in Dubai.
- Education and experience
- Professionally qualified lawyer.
- Have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience with proven technical competence.
- Fluent in English. Other languages beneficial but not mandatory.
