Job description

We are seeking a high-calibre Senior Finance Counsel to join a dynamic and growing legal team at one of the region’s most strategically significant energy groups. This newly created position reflects the growing complexity and volume of finance-related matters across the business, and offers the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders on some of the most high-profile deals in the sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on a broad range of financing transactions, with a focus on corporate and project finance, debt structuring, loans, and other financing facilities.
• Support internal stakeholders across Treasury, Strategy, and Business Development on funding initiatives, liability management, and capital structuring.
• Draft, review, and negotiate finance documentation, including loan agreements, security packages, intercreditor arrangements, and NDAs.
• Partner with external counsel on major financings and ensure commercial alignment with internal objectives.
• Assist in managing legal risk, transaction execution, and internal governance processes related to finance transactions.
• Provide training and guidance to business stakeholders on finance law developments and contractual best practices.

Candidate Profile

• Qualified lawyer with 7–10 years’ post-qualification experience, including training at a Magic Circle or leading US law firm.
• Strong track record advising on cross-border loan and debt transactions; project finance and energy-sector experience highly desirable.
• In-house experience (secondments or permanent) a plus, but not essential.
• Able to work independently while also collaborating effectively in a team-based, cross-functional environment.
• Existing experience in the energy sector a plus.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where legal advice is expected to be both technically sound and commercially pragmatic.
