Position Summary
- You will be a part of a VEON HQ Legal team. The role profile is a mid-level lawyer with 6 to 10 years of Professional Qualified Experience.
- Reporting into Associate General Counsel, you will be helping to run Legal’s Group-wide sanctions, export controls and OFAC-related compliance program.
- Working location: Dubai
Key Responsibilities
- Providing subject matter expertise (sanctions, export controls and OFAC compliance) to legal and business teams;
- Keeping abreast of important initiatives and changes by authorities and regulators, and disseminating relevant information to stakeholders;
- Assessing risk controls and adjusting procedures to ensure effective compliance, reporting and escalation across the Group;
- Developing and providing sanctions, export controls and OFAC compliance training.
Critical Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge in area of focus, preferably gained in multinational corporate environment and/or listed company.
- Strong legal and analytical skill with good business sense and able to work in a team.
- Ability to work and deal with sensitive issues in a multi-cultural environment and to build effective working relations with stakeholders.
- Must be a self-starter, flexible, innovative and adaptive.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and with people at all levels of the organization.
Education and Experience
- Professionally qualified lawyer in good standing and/or Master’s Degree in Law.
- Have 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in similar jobs, preferably with a reputable international law firm, a legal department of a private or public entity, regulatory organization, or an international financial institution with proven technical competence.
