Position Overview

We are supporting an innovative climate tech leader in hiring a Senior Legal Counsel to lead their growing legal function in Dubai. This fast-expanding company pioneers revolutionary carbon removal and storage solutions, driving meaningful impact on the global climate crisis.

The Senior Legal Counsel will act as a strategic partner to senior leadership, managing legal risks and enabling commercial success. This role includes ownership of the legal function, providing expert advice on commercial, corporate, regulatory, and contractual matters—many of which are industry-firsts. The successful candidate will shape the company’s global legal framework and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Commercial, Engineering, and Finance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide high-level legal counsel to the executive team on strategy, risk, compliance, and commercial issues.
2. Lead and manage daily legal operations as the sole legal expert in-house.
3. Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of contracts including NDAs, partnership agreements, commercial contracts, procurement terms, stock options, IP licenses, and investment documents.
4. Embed legal strategy into deal structuring, negotiations, and project development in partnership with multiple departments.
5. Ensure compliance with laws and regulations across several jurisdictions in the Middle East and Europe.
6. Support corporate governance, board preparations, and liaise with external legal advisors and corporate secretaries.
7. Protect intellectual property and ensure data privacy compliance.
8. Manage relationships with external law firms and legal specialists internationally.
9. Advise on joint ventures, grant agreements, and cross-border legal matters.

Candidate Profile

• Qualified solicitor with 4+ years post-qualification experience, ideally combining top-tier law firm and in-house experience in climate, energy, infrastructure, or other high-growth sectors.
• Expertise in commercial contracts, governance, compliance, and international legal issues.
• Commercially minded, proactive, and confident advising senior leadership.
• Strong communicator and collaborator, comfortable in a fast-paced, high-ownership culture.
• Passionate about applying legal expertise to support impactful climate initiatives.
