We are seeking an experienced Director of Data Centre Operations Transformation to lead the design and implementation of scalable operating models across a growing international data centre portfolio.
The mandate focuses on Day 2 transformation, specifically how data centres transition from ready-for-service into live operations, with a strong emphasis on MEP infrastructure, operational processes, systems integration and AI-enabled optimisation.
The successful candidate must demonstrate experience delivering large-scale operational transformation, from strategy and process redesign through to systems implementation and measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business-wide transformation programmes across live data centre operations, with a focus on MEP infrastructure and operational technology.
- Design and implement scalable Day 2 operating models, operational governance and standardised processes.
- Transform end-to-end operational processes covering maintenance, incident tracking, change management, capacity and service management.
- Establish operational readiness frameworks and stage gates from ready-for-service through warranty into steady-state operations.
- Lead the selection, implementation and integration of operational systems, including DCIM, BMS, CMMS and incident management platforms.
- Develop operational performance frameworks covering availability, reliability, energy efficiency and PUE optimisation.
- Apply AI, automation and advanced analytics to predictive maintenance, anomaly detection and operational reporting.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external consulting firms to deliver complex transformation initiatives.
- Own transformation roadmaps, implementation timelines, commercial considerations and benefits realisation.
- Drive operational standardisation and continuous improvement across multi-site or multi-MW data centre environments.
What We're Looking For
- Significant experience in data centre operations, operational technology (OT) or mission-critical infrastructure transformation.
- Proven ownership of group-wide or business-wide operational transformation programmes, beyond individual facilities.
- Strong technical understanding of MEP infrastructure, critical facilities operations and incident management systems.
- Demonstrated experience selecting, implementing and integrating operational technology and management platforms.
- Ability to evidence the full transformation lifecycle: idea origination, process redesign, systems selection, implementation, integration, commercials and measurable outcomes.
- Experience establishing operating models, operational readiness frameworks and performance governance.
- Exposure to AI-enabled operations, predictive maintenance and energy optimisation.
- Experience working alongside major consulting firms on transformation programmes would be advantageous.
- Background within hyperscalers, data centre developers, operators or reputable transformation consultancies.
- Proven accountability for operational reliability, availability and performance across complex data centre environments.
The Mandate
This is a senior transformation leadership role requiring someone who has personally designed, implemented and delivered operational transformation at scale.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate specific transformation projects, the systems implemented, the rationale behind technology decisions and the measurable operational or commercial benefits achieved.
Hands-on data centre operations experience alone will not be sufficient. The successful candidate must have progressed into operating model design, systems transformation and programme ownership.
