Senior Leader - M&A

Our client is a multinational conglomerate based in Africa and is undertaking a strategic initiative aimed at unlocking the continent's potential in mineral and metal transformation and processing.

They are seeking an experienced Senior Leader in Mergers and Acquisitions to spearhead strategic mergers, acquisitions, and investment initiatives within the mining and metals sector. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in M&A, corporate finance, and investment strategy, with expertise in mining, geology, or related industries. Proficiency in French is required, as the role involves engaging with key stakeholders across Africa and the Middle East.

Key Responsibilities

1. M&A Strategy & Execution: Lead end-to-end M&A transactions, including deal origination, due diligence, negotiations, and post-merger integration.
2. Industry & Market Analysis: Identify investment opportunities, assess industry trends, and conduct valuation modelling for potential acquisitions.
3. Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with investors, target companies, regulatory bodies, and financial institutions.
4. Financial Structuring: Develop investment strategies and financial models to support decision-making on acquisitions and joint ventures.
5. Regulatory & Risk Management: Ensure all transactions comply with legal and regulatory frameworks in target markets.
6. Collaboration & Leadership: Provide strategic insights and recommendations to the CEO on business expansion and investment opportunities.

Key Qualifications

1. Bachelors degree in Mining, Geology, Finance, or related field (Masters or MBA preferred).
2. 15+ years of experience in M&A, corporate finance, or consulting, with a focus on the mining and metals industry.
3. Strong financial modelling, valuation, and due diligence skills.
4. Proven track record of executing high-value M&A deals in the mining sector.
5. Fluent in English; French proficiency is a must (due to business dealings in Africa).
6. Excellent negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
