Senior/Lead Project Engineer (Pipeline/Piping/Mechanical)
Wood is recruiting for a Senior/Lead Project Engineer to join its UAE Business Unit focusing on delivering the portfolio/project within schedule/budget for a Major Onshore Brownfield Project in Sharjah, UAE on a 5/2 work schedule. This is a full‑time, office‑based role in Sharjah, UAE.

Wood has been awarded a general engineering contract to support an International Client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects by provision of engineering and project management services (including EPC contract management), as well as Supply Chain, Construction and Commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices. Projects include both Greenfield and Brownfield modification projects and integrating low‑carbon solutions to support our client’s energy transition and emissions reduction goals.

Key Objectives
- Steward the delivery of Portfolio/Project within schedule and budget, focusing on stakeholder requirements and satisfaction
- Maintain positive customer relationship, fostering and enhancing relationship management with open, honest and effective communications
- Establish Work Order WBS structure and alignment of proposals & CTR development with emphasis on scope development
- Ensure interface management, liaising with the Client’s Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff from inception to close‑out
- Establish project performance evaluation mechanism/KPIs – baseline schedule, PMS, dashboards and regular updates
- Review/input financial reports: monthly cost reports, monitoring of expenditures (VOWD / WIP), estimate to complete (ETC)
- Ensure Engineering/Procurement/Construction executions align with schedule and budget
- Liaison with Engineering disciplines / document controls for generation & maintenance of Deliverable Register (MDR)
- Oversee LLI procurements (MR/TBEs/vendor docs/delivery) to be done as per plan & budgets
- Establish excellent working relationship with construction contractors, ensuring adequate reporting mechanisms
- Identify potential risks, flag for impact assessment and explore mitigatory measures
- Review & approve progress reports / milestone invoices from vendors and endorse to register in the system
- Coordinate preparation / submission of final documentation dossier
- Prepare project close‑out report, secure approvals and handover
- Manage resourcing trends/forecasts across the portfolio and address re‑allocation/mobilization requirements upfront
- Generate contracting and tendering strategies/plan, coordinate / assist ITT preparations, administer bid evaluation process
- Ensure day‑to‑day operations maintain alignment with overall corporate policy, strategy and direction
- Interact with the project sponsor/customer; regularly review and report project progress to senior management and/or sponsor/customer
- Support in recruitment, selection and development of talent, ensuring performance standards for continuous improvement
- Assist leadership and peers to improve delivery performance; recognise customer needs beyond scope and maximise delivery opportunities within wider business

Expected
- Degree qualification in an engineering discipline
- Minimum of 15+ years project engineering experience in the oil and gas industries
- Professional accreditation from a recognised institute (preferable)
- Middle East experience (preferable)
