Qualifications

Medical degree from a recognized medical school.
Completion of recognized postgraduate training in Orthopedic Surgery.
Board Certification or equivalent Specialist or Consultant qualification in Orthopedic Surgery.
Fellowship or advanced formal training in Knee Surgery, Sports Orthopedics, or Arthroscopy is highly desirable.
Appropriate UAE Consultant license, eligibility, or ability to obtain the required professional license.
Significant post-specialist experience practicing as a Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon.
Demonstrated subspecialty expertise in Soft Tissue Knee Surgery.
Strong independent experience performing knee arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction.

Responsibilities

Provide consultant-level assessment and treatment for patients presenting with knee disorders.
Diagnose and manage anterior cruciate ligament injuries.
Assess posterior cruciate ligament injuries and determine operative or non-operative management.
Treat medial and lateral collateral ligament injuries affecting knee stability.
Manage complex multiligament knee injuries requiring staged or combined reconstruction.
Diagnose meniscal tears and determine suitability for repair, preservation, or meniscectomy.
Evaluate cartilage injuries and focal defects using clinical examination, imaging, and arthroscopic findings.
Manage patellofemoral instability, maltracking, and related soft tissue disorders.
Treat tendon and ligament pathology involving the knee.
Provide specialist management for sports-related knee injuries and recurrent instability.
Perform advanced arthroscopic knee surgery within approved clinical privileges.
Undertake ACL reconstruction using appropriate graft selection and fixation techniques.
Perform PCL reconstruction for suitable patients with clinically significant instability.
Carry out complex multiligament reconstruction when required.
Perform meniscal repair with an emphasis on tissue preservation where clinically appropriate.
Undertake partial meniscectomy when repair is not feasible.
Perform cartilage restoration procedures according to defect characteristics and patient suitability.
Conduct patellar stabilization and other reconstructive procedures for recurrent patellofemoral instability.
Perform additional soft tissue knee reconstruction procedures within subspecialty expertise.
Complete detailed preoperative assessment, including clinical examination, imaging review, functional status, and surgical risk evaluation.
Develop individualized operative plans based on injury pattern, patient goals, activity level, and expected functional outcome.
Provide structured postoperative management covering pain control, wound care, mobility, thrombosis prevention, and recovery milestones.
Coordinate rehabilitation programs with physiotherapists and sports rehabilitation specialists.
Establish evidence-based return-to-sport criteria for athletes recovering from ligament, cartilage, or meniscal surgery.
Work closely with Sports Medicine physicians, musculoskeletal radiologists, physiotherapists, rehabilitation teams, and other orthopedic specialists.
Participate in outpatient knee clinics, operating lists, multidisciplinary meetings, and on-call services where required.
Manage professional, elite, and competitive athletes where relevant to clinical experience.
Contribute to clinical protocols, surgical pathways, patient-safety initiatives, and quality improvement programs.
Teach and supervise residents, fellows, and junior physicians.
Participate in clinical research, audits, outcomes review, and orthopedic service development.
Maintain accurate consultation notes, operative records, rehabilitation plans, and follow-up documentation.
Ensure compliance with UAE healthcare regulations, surgical safety standards, infection control requirements, and hospital policies.
