The Senior Hydraulic / Diesel Engine Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex hydraulic systems and diesel-powered engines on a variety of heavy equipment, vehicles, and machinery. This role requires expert-level technical skills, leadership capabilities, and the ability to train and mentor junior technicians.
Inspect, diagnose, and repair hydraulic and diesel engine systems on heavy-duty equipment (e.g., excavators, cranes, trucks, industrial machines).
Troubleshoot and repair faults related to pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, lines, and power units.
Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure machinery and equipment operate at optimal performance.
Disassemble and rebuild hydraulic components and diesel engines using technical manuals and OEM guidelines.
Interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and manufacturer specifications.
Use diagnostic tools and computer-based systems to analyze system performance.
Keep accurate maintenance records and service reports.
Lead a team of junior technicians and provide training, guidance, and performance feedback.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and company protocols during all repair and maintenance activities.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and procurement teams to ensure timely repairs and parts sourcing.
Participate in equipment upgrades and retrofitting projects.
Provide technical support for emergency breakdowns or critical failures.
Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Diesel Technology, or related technical field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of hands‑on experience with hydraulic systems and diesel engines.
Proven experience working on heavy equipment or industrial machinery (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, Volvo).
Strong understanding of hydraulic schematics, engine systems, and fluid dynamics.
Experience with electronic control systems and diagnostic software is an advantage.
Certification in diesel engine or hydraulic system maintenance is a plus (e.g., ASE, NFPC).
Advanced troubleshooting and repair skills.
Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations.
