Job Responsibilities
- Request and ensure the availability of adequate tools, equipment, consumables, PPE, janitorial supplies, etc., in accordance with operational demands.
- Receive and inspect all incoming materials, reconcile with purchase orders.
- Ensure safe storage, control, and monitoring of all items in the stores.
- Maintain and monitor the inventory list; communicate significant shortfalls to department heads for immediate action.
- Maintain a healthy relationship with personnel attending the counter.
- Validate and test all items issued from stores.
- Monitor department budget targets and control ordering accordingly.
- Assist managers in preparing CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
- Ensure timely and proper maintenance of tools.
- Mentor and train subordinates to act as store in charge in your absence.
- Coordinate with other department stores for temporary item drawing during shortages or emergencies.
- Maintain all documentation related to stores as per company directives.
- Exercise discipline at the work site to prevent absenteeism, unsafe practices, and idleness.
- Ensure workers are supplied with the appropriate machinery, tools, and equipment.
- Perform inspections to ensure workers' performance meets set standards.
- Participate proactively in error identification and report effectively through the NCIR system.
- Train, motivate, appraise, and provide feedback to uplift subordinate skills.
- Attend training sessions related to departmental activities.
- Follow day-to-day operations to ensure work continuity.
- Familiarity with materials and tools related to a marine environment is essential.
- Possess sound knowledge of computerized stock control methods and warehouse procedures.
- Have knowledge and experience in ship repair and new building yard operations.
- Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Experience with warehouse stock control systems, material coding, and manual handling.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a warehouse, with skills in budget analysis and stock maintenance as a Store in charge.
