The Senior FF&E designer is involved in all phases of a design project as a support, and depending on the project, this may include the design or renovation of internal spaces, including furnishings, fixtures and fittings, lighting, and colour schemes.
The various phases of a project include Briefing, Concept Design, Design Development, Design Documentation, and Contract Administration, including project coordination, styling and site coordination where required. Senior FF&E designer will work with the FF&E Director and coordinate with FF&E and design teams across all KZC offices for all phases of the project, both Pre-contract and post-contract. Be responsible for various tasks, including the creations and reviews of schedules, specifications, and check basic CAD work for layouts and bespoke furniture design. Where required, review costings.
The Senior FF&E Designer will report to the SDD/DD/FF&E Director or Design Manager regarding project deliverables and prepare time schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
Produce concept designs and mood boards, design narratives, FF&E selections, and finish, sanitary ware and hardware selections.
Review FF&E and material selections from the design team to ensure quality and cohesion.
Lead the development of FF&E specification books and other relevant spec documents.
Manage and brief the design team on live projects, outlining the deliverables on each phase and scope of works.
Check basic CAD work for layouts and bespoke furniture design.
Liaise directly with clients, sub-consultants, contractors.
Review shop drawings and prototypes to ensure they align with the design intent.
Produce material samples or mood boards for presentation to clients for the project.
Work with the design team to develop 3D visuals and concept narratives, helping bring project concepts to life.
Understand individual clients' needs and the needs of the people using the spaces, developing FF&E design concepts in consultation with the client and establishing final briefs.
Review all projects FF&E technical submissions and specifications.
Overview/improve all company standards related to FF&E specification.
Manage the process of design deliverables for all projects for the FF&E.
Mentor and direct junior and middle-weight designers.
Supervise quality at the design and delivery stage and on-site when required for the project.
Keep up to date with new developments in the design industry.
