Job summary
Masdar in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Research & Technology Analyst to support the technology team in defining and managing R&D projects and conducting financial and strategic analyses of the R&D portfolio, with emphasis on wind technology.
You will assess external clean-tech proposals for technical feasibility and commercial viability, help implement pilots, prepare technical presentations, and contribute to the Masdar Technology Journal and annual technology report.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or natural sciences required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Experience delivering techno-commercial analyses on renewables.
- Strong cost-benefit and business case skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Job description
To support the technology team in defining and managing Masdars Research and Development (R&D) projects and perform financial and strategic analysis of Masdars R&D portfolio with more focus on wind technology besides support on other technologies.
To assess proposals for clean technologies from external parties and determine whether the proposed technologies are technically feasible commercially viable and fit with Masdars objectives and potentially support in implementing pilot and demonstration projects on behalf of Masdars commercial business units with the goal of creating significant value to the company.
- Provide technical and commercial input to commercial energy storage projects
- Lead the PowertoX projects with other departments in line with overall strategies and objectives.
- Analyse the PowertoX market and define viable business models in this sector recommending suitable options to Masdar.
- Support the Technology Unit in the implementation of various pilot and demonstration projects as identified by the strategy including concept design and engineering in line with the overall strategy and plans.
- Perform costbenefit analyses to determine if the pilot and demonstration projects will provide commercial value to Masdar.
- Support the implementation of the projects performing project management tasks (contractor management budget control reporting project administration etc.)
- Conduct technology assessments and analyses as requested by management and submit reports and recommendations.
- Provide expert advice as and when required to contribute to overall decision making.
- Identify topics of interest to Masdar staff to be featured in the Masdar technology journal in line with overall objectives and standards.
- Review and proofread the articles that will be featured in the journal from an expert perspective.
- Participate in preparation of the annual technology report
- Work closely with the team to ensure coordination and alignment of duties and processes in order to contribute to the smooth flow of daily work.
- Support the team in ad hoc projects as and when required by the line manager.
- Create technical presentations or reports and assist the team with the preparation of presentation materials based on own area of specialty
- Assess proposals for clean technologies from external parties and determine whether the proposed technologies are technically feasible commercially viable and fit with Masdars objectives.
- As and when required by the Lead support and assist in the building and maintenance of strong relationships with key partners and government players locally and internationally.

- Contribute to the establishment of collaborative R&D initiatives with universities (locally and internationally) and other leading research organizations and collaborate with other Masdar divisions on sponsored R&D projects providing technology advice as required by the Lead.
- Support in managing the BizTalk initiative to present key lessons learnt on running projects/activities that are relevant for CE division Awareness of industry development and trends
- Keep up to date on relevant technological developments assess significance to Masdar and Abu Dhabi and suggest ways to prioritize R&D areas of interest

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in engineering or Natural Sciences or relevant field
- Masters degree in engineering or natural sciences
Preferred Experience:
- 810 years of postqualification experience delivering similar role and responsibilities involving the assessment of a variety of renewable energy technologies and conducting technocommercial analyses or equivalent experience
