Masdar in Abu Dhabi seeks a Manager, Technical – BESS & Hybrid Solutions to lead technical analyses, design aspects and project management for utility-scale BESS technologies and hybrid solutions. The role involves strategic planning, resource allocation and ensuring alignment with Masdar's goals.

Preferred candidates hold a Bachelor's (and Master’s) in engineering, with 6–8 years in BESS and at least 3 years leading large-scale hybrid projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science.
• Master’s Degree related in electrical/mechanical/chemical engineering or related field.
• 6-8 years of relevant work experience in BESS technologies.
• 3+ years of leading the technical stream of large scale BESS hybrid projects or equivalent experience.
• Proficient in Hybrid simulation tools and related software.
• EPC technical annex preparation.
• Microsoft Excel knowledge.
• Knowledge of photovoltaics, BESS and grid energy management systems.
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in high-pressure environments.
• Willingness to learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage technical and techno-economic analyses for utility-scale BESS technologies and hybrid solutions.
• Define design aspects, budgets, timelines with contractors and clients.
• Provide technical guidance and leadership through development lifecycles.

To lead and manage technical and techno-economic analyses, design aspects and technical project management of utility-scale BESS technologies (alternative chemistries and services) and BESS hybrid solutions in Masdar in line with overall engineering plans and objectives with less complex nature in terms of partnership structure, project structure, geographical location, technology wise, risk exposure etc.. The role involves strategic planning, resource allocation, and ensuring project alignment with organizational goals. The Technical Manager, BESS & Hybrid Solutions will provide technical guidance and leadership throughout the development lifecycles.. As part of an integrated project team, to prepare and agree on project specifications, budgets and timescales with contractors, clients or other stakeholders, and to define basic design, and create or review test procedures for Hybrid plant components such as foundation, battery and converters.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science
• Master’s Degree related in electrical/mechanical/chemical engineering or related field

Preferred Experience

• 6-8 years of relevant work experience in BESS technologies and at least 3 years of experience in leading the technical stream of large scale BESS hybrid projects or equivalent experience

Job-Specific Skills

• Ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects simultaneously
• Proficient in Hybrid simulation tool, and exposure to one of the following hybrid power plants simulation tools
• EPC technical annex preparation
• Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Knowledge of photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage systems and grid energy management systems
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial
• Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
