Job Overview:
Responsible for managing and overseeing the estimation process for power-related projects within the department. Senior Estimation Engineer will prepare accurate and timely cost estimates for power infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with project specifications, budget constraints, and industry standards. This role involves close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to deliver competitive and reliable estimates.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead and oversee the preparation of accurate cost estimates for power projects, including material, labor, and equipment costs.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and other technical documents to develop detailed estimates.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure all aspects of the project scope are considered in the estimate.
- Ensure estimates are submitted on time and align with client requirements, industry standards, and budget constraints.
- Analyze cost variations and provide solutions to mitigate potential budget overruns.
- Maintain and update a cost database with up-to-date pricing information to support accurate and competitive estimations.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and ensure alignment with project needs.
- Assist in preparing bid proposals and tender documents, including cost analysis and recommendations.
- Monitor the progress of ongoing projects and provide support in managing cost variations or changes.
- Provide leadership and guidance to junior estimators and other team members.
- Perform any other related tasks required by the direct manager.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in estimation in the power or energy sector.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, civil engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of power systems, infrastructure projects, and estimation practices.
- Proficiency in estimation software and tools (e.g., Excel, CostX, Procore).
- Knowledge of procurement and supply chain processes within the power sector.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
