What Does a Senior Estimation Engineer Do?
- Support management in evaluating tenders, analyzing risks, and forming bid decisions
- Review client specifications and technical documents to fully understand project requirements
- Coordinate with internal departments and subcontractors for technical and commercial inputs
- Inspect vessels and offshore platforms to assess project scope and clarify specifications with client representatives
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates and final tender documents for offshore, conversion, and EPC projects
- Develop financial summaries and risk analyses for tender approvals
- Respond to tender clarifications and additional quotation requests until contract finalization
- Transfer the complete project file with key highlights and specifications to the project execution team
- Ensure all internal documentation is completed in line with company standards
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Prepare cost breakdowns, material estimates, and manpower projections for marine and energy-related projects
- Liaise with clients through management for clarifications and additional inputs
- Work across cross-functional teams to gather and validate bid requirements
- Stay updated on market trends and technological developments in offshore and EPC sectors
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating tools and processes
- Support contract negotiation and documentation through the bid phase
- Implement daily operational tasks to ensure quality, compliance, and procedural alignment
What Skills Are Needed for a Senior Estimation Engineer in Dubai?
Education:
- Degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field
- Seagoing Engineers with valid certificates issued by competent authority are also considered
Experience:
- At least 10 years of experience in oil and gas EPC project estimation
- Minimum 2 years in a managerial or senior-level position
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of FPSO, module fabrication, offshore platforms, and EPC estimation processes
- Familiarity with oil and gas, wind energy, and renewable project specifications and terminology
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and bid documentation tools
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
- Strong project management, risk assessment, and decision-making skills
- Ability to handle multiple complex bids and work under pressure
- Commercial awareness and understanding of industry contract structures
