GEMS Wellington, Dubai Hills, Dubai, seeks an outstanding English Second in Charge – Senior School to join our team from January 2027. The role emphasizes curriculum development, assessment, data analysis and quality assurance across KS3–KS5 to raise standards in a cognitive science driven school.

We welcome ambitious middle leaders who can model exemplary teaching, coach colleagues and deputise for the Head of English as needed.

Qualifications

• Excellent subject knowledge across English Language and English Literature
• Strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment and data analysis
• Proven ability to model outstanding teaching and learning
• Strong organisational and leadership skills
• Ability to coach, support and develop colleagues effectively
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Solid understanding of British curriculum expectations and KHDA/BSO standards
• Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
• Ability to develop an ambitious, well-sequenced English curriculum across KS3–KS5
• Use data to identify trends and support intervention
• Contribute to departmental quality assurance, including observations and data reviews
• Willingness to deputise for Head of English and contribute to school improvement

Responsibilities

• Lead curriculum development and assessment across English KS3–KS5
• Analyse pupil progress data to identify trends and target interventions
• Model and promote excellent teaching and learning
• Coach and develop colleagues within the English department
• Contribute to departmental quality assurance through observations and data reviews
• Collaborate with Head of English and School leadership on improvement priorities
• Represent the department in wider school initiatives
