Job description

About the Company

We are the largest oil producer within the ADNOC Group, accounting for over half of ADNOC’s total oil production. As the country’s oldest oil production company, our operations date back to 1939, when a 75-year concession was signed to explore for oil and gas in Abu Dhabi. As a global industry leader in environmental sustainability, we are the first in the world to capture carbon from the iron and steel industry. Our Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) facility at Al Reyadah has the capacity to capture 800,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) from Emirates Steel Industries (ESI) each year, for use in the Bab and Rumaitha oil fields to support Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR). Al Reyadah is, therefore, a critical enabler of ADNOC’s 2030 sustainability goals.

About the Job

Provides expert reservoirs engineering input to multidisciplinary projects including field development planning, reservoir performance analyses, and reservoir estimation of production/injection capacities. Leads reservoir management studies, performance review, and optimization using appropriate techniques.

Key Accountabilities

  • Coordinates and works with Geoscientists on reservoir characterization and upscaling.
  • Builds sizable Full Field simulation models, history matches, and uses them in predictions.
  • Conducts quality checks and consistency of simulation models, history match scenarios with respect to geological model characteristics.
  • Develops characterization of reservoir fluids and Equation of State (EOS) modelling, calibration.
  • Converts simple black oil models to compositional. Diagnoses model convergence and run-time problems.
  • Coordinates with Technical Centre in designing IOR/EOR methods (WI, Immiscible GI, Miscible GI, and Surfactant and polymer injection) to enhance recovery and pressure maintenance methods.
  • Applies different methods of reserves estimation using probabilistic and deterministic methods (Mbal, DCA, and simulation models sensitivities).
  • Identifies required action using simulation models to maximize recovery/meet current production quotas, designs, follows up, QC, and analyses reservoir studies e.g. RCA, SCAL, and PVT.
  • Conducts special simulation studies for Field Development optimization (well pacing, infill wells, advanced wells, Pilots).
  • Applies multiphase flow in the reservoir, effective permeability concept, and correlations for relative permeability. Integrates pressure and production test results for reservoir simulation and management decisions.
  • Contributes to reservoir monitoring program and data gathering with effective cost program to enable collecting necessary data to help best reservoir management and reduce uncertainties.
  • Liaises with contractors conducting the study, analyses, and reviews findings and actions study recommendations. Participates in periodic update and validation of database with monthly production/injection data and descriptions to display wells, reservoir, and field performance for appropriate distribution and Simulation model recalibration.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelor Degree in Reservoir/Petroleum/Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills: 8 years of experience in reservoir engineering including oil and gas fields’ development management and Full Field simulation studies (use of software models).
  • Reservoir and Production Operations Knowledge.
  • Analytical Reservoir characterization (Material Balance) knowledge.
  • Numerical reservoir simulation (Eclipse, Intersect).
  • Pressure Transient Analysis and Well Performance knowledge, PVT Modelling.
