A leading company in the petrochemical sector is seeking a Process Optimization Engineer to enhance production performance and ensure safety compliance. Qualifications

The jobholder is responsible for implementing and supporting Advanced Process Control & Real Time Optimizer (APC/RTO) systems to maximize efficiency and improve production performance according to plant specifications and operational requirements. This role includes implementing and supporting advanced process solutions such as APC monitoring systems, Plant Digital Twin (PDT), and Operator Training Simulator (OTS) systems, providing support to operations for plant asset safety and reliability, collecting and analyzing data to monitor and optimize processes, and developing new processes. The role also involves systematic system checks and upgrades to prevent obsolescence, analyzing plant requirements, and ensuring system performance and availability following established procedures.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Process Optimization

  • Analyze production processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements for optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement advanced process control strategies to enhance production stability and product quality, aligning with Borouge's operational goals.
  • Monitor KPIs to track process performance and identify improvement areas.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on process optimization projects aligned with business objectives.
  • Conduct root cause analyses of process deviations to prevent recurrence, utilizing data analytics for insights and data-driven decisions.

Safety Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations, safeguarding employee well-being and operational integrity.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and develop safety training programs.
  • Investigate safety incidents, collaborate with HSE, and maintain safety records.

Quality Assurance

  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure product consistency and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with QA team to investigate and resolve customer complaints and analyze quality data for improvements.

Cost Management

  • Monitor production costs, identify reduction opportunities, and support financial objectives.
  • Recommend and implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
  • Manage budgets, analyze cost data, and promote resource efficiency and sustainability.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Ensure alignment of production activities with business objectives and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively across teams, participate in meetings, and address stakeholder concerns.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, suggest technological innovations, and ensure compliance with standards and policies.

Departmental Plans

  • Plan and coordinate activities to meet objectives, contribute to budgets, and support performance targets.

Processes & Systems

  • Implement policies and procedures, analyze processes, train staff, and suggest improvements for efficiency and quality.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymers, or related fields; Master’s preferred.
  • Fluency in English, 5-8 years’ experience in APC, preferably in petrochemicals or refining.
  • Certificates in DCS systems, problem-solving, and process modeling software, with professional certifications like Six Sigma or PMP preferred.
