The job holder is responsible for providing Automation expertise in managing the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple or large-scale automation projects to deliver projects on time and within budget, supporting Borouge’s operations and systems in accordance with OEM guidelines, engineering standards, ADNOC, and international standards.

The role acts as a technical authority in Control & Automation, reviewing and supporting new projects, developing processes, managing change, monitoring, analyzing data, and identifying business improvement opportunities, ensuring safety, cost-effectiveness, and technical soundness aligned with project needs and strategic goals.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Project Management

  • Coordinate and execute strategic Capex projects, including upgrades and process optimization.
  • Monitor budgets, expenditures, and implement cost-control strategies.
  • Identify process improvements for productivity, efficiency, and safety enhancements.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management.
  • Lead project development stages with stakeholders to meet objectives.
  • Manage communication with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Control expenditure and investigate variances.
  • Oversee project completion and milestone achievement.
  • Monitor project progression to meet plans and outputs.
  • Coordinate system constraints removal and issue resolution.

Project Coordination

  • Monitor external contractors’ work adherence to standards.
  • Review safety system modifications with manufacturers.
  • Manage software contracts with OEMs/vendors.
  • Address technical issues with vendors and support maintenance strategies.
  • Assist engineers and facilitate collaboration.
  • Review control philosophy and perform testing for change requests.

Technical Advisor (C & A)

  • Provide technical guidance on Control & Automation System Design and Engineering.
  • Review and update safety and operational procedures.
  • Screen improvement proposals and support decision-making.
  • Coordinate system-related activities within ADNOC and with other Group Companies.
  • Develop and maintain standards and best practices.
  • Supervise installation and commissioning of control and automation projects.
  • Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Reliability Support

  • Oversee reliability indices, identify gaps, and implement solutions.
  • Manage procurement for materials.
  • Analyze safety hazards and perform reliability studies.
  • Conduct failure data analysis and suggest improvements.
  • Provide on-call support on a rotational basis.

Maintenance Execution

  • Develop solutions to enhance reliability and safety.
  • Propose process and safety improvements.
  • Ensure optimal operation strategies.
  • Assess team skills and develop plans.
  • Monitor and improve maintenance activities.

Process Control

  • Support project modifications and troubleshoot software issues.
  • Use expertise to improve system performance.
  • Upgrade automation systems periodically.
  • Maintain knowledge of HSE, sustainability, and quality policies.
  • Promote safety culture and risk management.

Strategic and Departmental Planning

  • Contribute to strategic development aligning with company vision.
  • Plan and supervise departmental activities.
  • Assist in budget preparation and performance monitoring.

Processes & Systems

  • Implement policies and procedures.
  • Analyze processes for efficiency improvements.
  • Train staff and improve tools and techniques.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills

  • Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP.
  • Fluency in English.

Minimum Experience & Skills

  • 8-10 years in Honeywell DCS and Experion systems maintenance, preferably in petrochemicals.
  • Hands-on experience with Honeywell systems, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and migration.
