As Senior Engineer - Platform Systems, you will lead the technical development and integration of space platform systems within Space42's Space Segment Engineering division. Reporting to the Principal Engineer, you will drive innovation in satellite systems architecture through platform design and evaluation. With a primary focus on electrical, mechanical, and thermal platform subsystems, you will play a key role in the AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Testing) phases of spacecraft programs, optimizing manufacturing flows, and ensuring alignment with mission goals.

Responsibilities

1. Lead the technical design, development, and validation of space platform systems, ensuring alignment with mission requirements and industry standards.
2. Contribute to the specification of future platform systems during the procurement phase of new missions, evaluating proposals, and assisting in contract negotiations with satellite manufacturers.
3. Provide ongoing support to existing fleet operations, focusing on performance optimization and anomaly investigations related to platform engineering and constellation management.
4. Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including payload systems, product assurance, and operations teams, to ensure seamless coordination and optimal system performance.
5. Support the development of satellite constellation system models using tools such as MATLAB, STK, Python, etc.
6. Provide platform engineering support to the Satellite Operations team for the Space42 fleet.
7. Support the Space Segment Engineering Team, acting as the Design Authority, on platform-related program milestones and issues.
8. Verify all health reports issued by Satellite Operations and assist in troubleshooting platform anomalies. Record lessons learned for future programs.
9. Ensure compliance with space industry standards and quality requirements.
10. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in platform systems development processes.

Qualifications

• BS in Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in the satellite industry.
• Strong skills in STK, MATLAB, and/or Python.
• Experience in platform systems engineering projects.
• Proficiency with systems engineering tools and methodologies.
• Experience with AI/ML integration in space systems.
• Successful project delivery in space technology.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
• Experience in designing and building LEO constellations; professional certification in Systems Engineering (INCOSE CSEP).
• Knowledge of ESA or NASA space mission standards; familiarity with MATLAB, Simulink, CAD software, thermal and structural analysis tools.
