As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be part of the Middle East Buildings Team and will report to the Department Head.
Key Responsibilities, Duties, and Skills
Technical engineering of electrical systems, including:
- Lead discipline on projects
- Developing and guiding engineers and/or design team
- Applying policies relating to health & safety, quality, and training
Specific areas of key responsibility include:
- Act as discipline lead on selected projects to successfully deliver high-quality discipline projects in accordance with corporate and client requirements
- Capability of leading MEP for small to medium-sized projects
- Develop a thorough design philosophy, effectively contributing to the inception, development, and detailed delivery of projects across all stages
- Responsible for the correctness, accuracy, and complete multidisciplinary coordination of the design documentation in accordance with QA/QC review processes
- Attend external meetings and prepare design presentations and reports
- Coordinate and liaise with all other design team members, including architects, structural engineers, client project managers, and QS
- Have a good knowledge of buildability & construction techniques
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills with the ability to work methodically and analytically in a problem-solving environment
- Strong attention to detail, teamwork, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of the financial and commercial management of projects
- Provide technical support for prequalification documents, RFPs, and client inquiries
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies
Technical Skills / Knowledge
Anticipated technical skills include:
- Proven ability to carry out manual and computer-aided calculations, problem solving, and technical analyses
- Detailed knowledge of BIM digitalisation techniques and standards
- Strong software skills in MS Office, Amtech, Dialux Evo, Strikerisk, AutoCAD, REVIT, and Navisworks
- Excellent knowledge of local and international design standards (BS, EN, CIBSE, ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.)
- Knowledge of local statutory authorities regulations and submission requirements in the Middle East, mainly UAE and KSA
- Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles in LV, Lighting, ELV, and FLS design
- Sustainable design practices and technologies
- Basic understanding of electrical, HVAC, and public health principles
Maintain and participate in CPD events to develop expertise.
Qualifications
Your starting point for growth:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Building Services / Electrical Engineering
- Preferably Chartered member of an internationally recognized professional body (e.g., IET, CIBSE, ASHRAE)
- Current SOE and Dubai Municipality registration or capable of being professionally recognized
- Minimum of 8 years of experience; 5 years in the Middle East
- Proven track record in building services design across sectors like high-rise, commercial, residential, hospitality, retail, healthcare, industrial, refurbishment, etc.
- Proven record as a project engineer on multiple projects
- Experience in presenting to clients/authorities, attending meetings, preparing proposals, arranging resources, and project planning
