Job Overview
An experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of mechanical components, assemblies, and conveyor systems from concept through fabrication, installation, and commissioning ensuring quality, safety, and functional standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems, components, and assemblies using SolidWorks / AutoCAD, producing detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and design specifications.
- Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate functionality, efficiency, and structural integrity.
- Lead prototype testing, troubleshooting, and product validation; resolve design issues with practical solutions.
- Prepare technical reports, BOMs, and documentation for design reviews and client presentations.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, purchase, and quality assurance to ensure design feasibility and process compliance.
- Select materials, components, and vendors; maintain accurate records of design changes, test results, and milestones.
- Apply industry standards, regulations, and best practices; stay current with new technologies in mechanical design.
Conveyor Experience (Mandatory)
- Strong understanding of conveyor types belt, roller, chain, screw, and carousel conveyors.
- End-to-end conveyor project execution: concept, CAD design, fabrication, installation, alignment, and commissioning.
- Component selection motors, gearboxes, rollers, idlers, pulleys, belts, chains, and drives based on load, speed, and application.
- Load calculation and structural integrity analysis for conveyor frames and supports.
- Conveyor automation integration with PLCs, sensors, and control systems.
- Preventive/corrective maintenance and performance optimization reducing downtime, increasing throughput and reliability.
- Cost estimation, vendor coordination, client documentation (proposals, BOMs, manuals), and knowledge of OSHA / CE / ISO safety norms.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years' full-time industrial experience in SolidWorks (mandatory), including 3D sketching and weldments.
- Sound knowledge of manufacturing processes CNC machining, welded fabrication, and sheet metal operations and raw material selection (square tubes, flats, rectangular tubes, etc.).
- Familiarity with materials, tolerancing, and standards such as ASME / ISO; simulation exposure (FEA/CFD) desirable.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills with excellent attention to detail.
