Qualifications

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, technically strong, and client-focused Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Buildings to join our Built Environment team.

The successful candidate will lead and deliver electrical building-services design on a range of complex projects across the Middle East. You will take technical responsibility for assigned projects, coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, support client relationships, and contribute to the development and mentoring of junior engineers.

This role is suited to an experienced engineer with a strong understanding of electrical building-services systems, regional codes and authority requirements, project delivery processes, and multidisciplinary design coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design delivery for assigned building-services projects, from concept through detailed design, tender, construction support, and project close-out.


• Prepare, review, and approve electrical design calculations, specifications, drawings, reports, schedules, and technical submissions.


• Design and coordinate electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, small power, earthing and lightning protection, ELV systems, and other relevant building-services systems.


• Ensure designs are technically robust, compliant with applicable codes, standards, authority requirements, client briefs, and Zutari quality-management processes.


• Manage and support electrical engineers, BIM technicians, and junior team members to ensure accurate, coordinated, and high-quality project delivery.


• Coordinate daily with mechanical, public health, fire and life safety, structural, architectural, BIM, sustainability, and project-management disciplines.


• Liaise directly with clients, architects, contractors, statutory authorities, utility providers, and other third parties as required.


• Participate in design workshops, client meetings, technical reviews, and authority coordination meetings.


• Support project planning, resourcing, programme management, fee proposals, bid submissions, and budget monitoring.


• Identify, manage, and communicate project risks, technical issues, design changes, and delivery dependencies.


• Take ownership of design quality, programme commitments, and the timely delivery of project outputs.


• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and quality assurance for junior members of the electrical design team.


• Contribute to continuous improvement, digital engineering, BIM coordination, sustainable design, and innovative building-services solutions.


• Support the preparation of technical proposals and contribute to business-development opportunities where required.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent recognised qualification.


• At least 10 years of post-graduate experience in electrical building-services design.


• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Middle East, preferably in the UAE.


• Proven experience delivering electrical designs for a range of building projects, such as commercial, residential, mixed-use, hospitality, healthcare, education, and public-sector developments.


• Strong technical understanding of electrical building-services design, applicable international standards, local regulations, and authority requirements.


• Experience working with international engineering consultants and within multidisciplinary design environments.


• Proficiency in industry-standard electrical design and analysis software, together with BIM-enabled delivery workflows.


• Experience coordinating designs within Revit and other digital engineering or BIM platforms would be advantageous.


• Strong project coordination, planning, and commercial awareness.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage directly with clients, authorities, and project stakeholders.


• A proactive, accountable, and quality-focused approach to project delivery.


• Professional engineering registration or chartership would be advantageous.
