Job summary

GHD in Abu Dhabi seeks a Lead Electrical Engineer to lead the design of electrical power distribution and building services across infrastructure projects. You will mentor the team, manage documentation, and ensure compliance with UAE codes and project objectives.

You will coordinate with clients and authorities, prepare proposals and submissions, and oversee multiple projects using Revit, AutoCAD, ETAP, AMTECH, and CANECO.

Qualifications

• 12 years of experience in electrical design and leading teams
• RPEQ status or potential to attain RPEQ
• Advanced understanding of UAE electrical codes
• Knowledge of local council/utility and QFES requirements
• Willingness to travel for short-term assignments
• Understanding of renewable energy resources
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, ETAP, AMTECH, PowerCAD, AGI32/Dialux, Revit, CaneCo

Responsibilities

• Lead mentoring and coaching of team members
• Design and document building services electrical systems including power, lighting, and distribution
• Coordinate with clients and authorities to ensure compliance with regulations and project objectives

Due to a strong pipeline of projects our Abu Dhabi team is fastgrowing and we are seeking an experiencedLead Electrical Engineerto undertake a variety of projects across the region.

In this role you will work as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team across a variety of infrastructure buildings transport and other project types. This role will see you involved in

• Leading mentoring training and coaching other team members
• Undertaking and managing the design and documentation of Building Services including: electrical power reticulation and distribution systems lighting design small power cable routing LV distribution and Single line diagrams standby power generation lightning protection and fire detection for new or revamp related projects.
• Demonstrated ability to manage client and authority meetings effectively ensuring clear communication compliance with regulations and alignment with project objectives.
• Proven capability to lead and oversee multiple projects simultaneously maintaining quality efficiency and adherence to timelines while managing resources effectively.
• Preparation and coordination of fee proposals technical report writing cost reporting and client liaison at project level.
• Preparation of authority submissions and construction phase services.
• Engaging Clients on work winning interviews and presentations

What you will bring to the team

• 12 years experience in the design of electrical systems and the ability to lead and manage electrical and/or multidisciplinary teams undertaking commercial industrial education health transport infrastructure power and controls projects.
• A relevant tertiary qualification together with RPEQ status or potential to attain RPEQ status.
• An advanced understanding of Electrical codes in the UAE and beyond.
• Understanding of local council/authority utility and QFES requirements.
• Flexibility to travel for short term project assignments.
• An understanding of renewable energy resources.
• Proficiency with industry standard software (MS Office AutoCAD ETAP AMTECH PowerCAD AGI32/Dialux Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat).
• Ability/desire to carry out coordinated design in the Revit environment using and CANECO software packages.
