Job description

Overview

SpecialismProject Management / Operations / Strategy

The Senior Electrical Engineer leads the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical systems for power generation, transmission, and distribution infrastructure. The professional develops technical specifications for switchgear, transformers, and protection systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards (IEEE, NEC, IEC). The role involves performing load flow studies, short-circuit calculations, and arc flash hazard assessments to optimize electrical networks in conventional and renewable energy plants. Whether designing microgrid controls for offshore wind farms or troubleshooting relay coordination in substations, the engineer’s expertise ensures reliable, efficient power delivery across complex energy assets. The Senior Electrical Engineer serves as the technical authority for electrical safety, mentoring junior engineers and reviewing contractor deliverables. The position requires advanced proficiency in ETAP, SKM, or similar engineering software to model system performance and mitigate operational risks. The professional collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate renewable energy sources, implement SCADA systems, and develop maintenance strategies for aging infrastructure. The engineer’s ability to balance technical precision with project constraints directly impacts grid stability and asset longevity in evolving energy markets.
