Job Description

What Does a Senior Electrical Design Engineer Do?

1. Plan and manage the delivery of electrical engineering drawings, documentation, and calculations in line with project schedules and milestones
2. Design and verify shipboard electrical, control, and communication systems for marine and offshore platforms
3. Prepare electrical documentation for classification society approvals and ensure regulatory compliance
4. Conduct design reviews, inter-discipline checks, and 3D model validations with timely follow-up actions
5. Supervise electrical drafting teams in creating detailed drawings and 3D models
6. Coordinate with production teams during vessel construction and perform site inspections as needed
7. Evaluate project variations and scope changes, contributing to change orders and impact assessments
8. Review third-party vendor drawings and ensure alignment with technical specifications and standards
9. Conduct shipyard risk assessments, audits, and safety inspections as required
10. Provide technical support for equipment installation and commissioning stages

What Are the Key Responsibilities?

1. Develop and monitor project deliverables for the electrical section
2. Guide drafting teams in producing compliant and timely project outputs
3. Maintain resource planning and track progress against deliverables
4. Interface with trades and vendors to resolve technical queries during execution
5. Ensure quality control and cost-effective design integration
6. Address classification society comments and client feedback
7. Support training and safety compliance within the electrical team

What Skills Are Needed for a Senior Electrical Engineer in Dubai?

Education:

1. Bachelor's or Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

Experience:

1. 5 to 10 years of experience in marine, offshore, or oil and gas electrical design, preferably in a shipyard or design office environment
2. Hands-on experience in power generation, distribution, and safety systems for vessels or offshore platforms

Technical Skills:

1. Proficient in ETAP, AGi32, and other electrical engineering software
2. Familiarity with electrical safety and occupational health standards
3. Experience with classification society requirements (e.g., ABS, DNV, BV)

Soft Skills:

1. Strong project management and multitasking abilities
2. Excellent communication and coordination skills
3. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multidisciplinary teams
