Kent Data Centres in Dubai is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design of MV/LV distributions, generators, UPS, switchgear and data centre electrical systems for mission-critical projects. You will review shop drawings, develop designs, liaise with sub-contractors, prepare design reports and support tender responses while ensuring compliance with international and local codes and standards.

Fluency in English and strong communication are essential.

About the job:

SENIOR ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Able to design MV Distributions, LV Distribution, Generator & UPS systems, Switch Gears, MDB, SMDB, DB and Small power system.
• Concurrent maintainability design for the Electrical Systems, Carry out shop drawing reviews/approvals in line with the Project Specifications and international/ Local Standards and Codes.
• Material selection reviews/approvals and produce designs for data centre Electrical systems
• To produce/review electrical schematics both for sales documentation and for build drawings
• To produce/review specifications for critical part of Electrical installations
• Create and issue Electrical systems specifications to contractors.
• Carry out site surveys.
• To develop the Electrical systems including developing all necessary drawings, technical submissions, calculations and descriptions of operation to construction standard.
• To liaise with all sub-contractors and ensure that all drawings are issued with all required information.
• To check and approve material submittals with respect to Technical Design
• Providing Sales support for incoming enquiries and queries
• Preparation of proposal/ quotes for customers directly
• Study tender documents and understand client requirements to be able to put together the technical response to tender bids, proposal and quotations.
• Evaluate client enquiries, specification and drawings.
• Formulate technical and commercial response with assistance and guidance from other departments as required
• Prepare and participate in the review of and submit Technical and part of the Commercial responses to the highest standards of accuracy, presentation, and punctuality and in accordance with company standards and client requirements.
• Attend client, supplier and third-party meetings on and offsite as necessary.
• Understanding / knowledge of electrical & mechanical equipment’s, financial aspects and technical risk
• Engage directly with consultancy (Data Centre audits, best practice etc)
• Prepare Basis of Design, Design report and Sequence of operation.
• Pro-actively working with other disciplines.
• Take responsible for the on-time submission of all design deliverables.
• To liaise with all sub-contractors and ensure that all drawings are issued with all required information.
• Work together with the senior design team and other company departments to develop innovative solutions
• Coordinate with the respective BIM Engineers in transferring the schematics into layouts by knowledge sharing and brainstorming.
• Develop the MEP design drawings in coordination with architectural, structural and ID layouts.
• Communicates and coordinates with all Disciplines and Stakeholders on a daily basis.

YOUR EXPERIENCE:

• Degree in BEng/BSc/BE/B. Master s in electrical engineering from an accredited university with 8 years relevant experience relevant experience in Building services and Data Centres,
• Minimum 3 years of similar experience as an electrical building services design engineer.
• Working knowledge of REVIT MEP, Dialux, Relux, Navisworks and AutoCAD/ REVIT.
• Working knowledge of Uptime Tiers & TIA 942-C and IEEE standards
• Experience with Data Centre multi-MW Installations

Communication:

• Excellent communicator, both in writing, on the telephone and face-to-face with customers

Behaviour/ Core Competencies:

• Proficient in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, DIA lux, RE lux, MATLAB, or PSpice, demonstrating technical capability in creating and analysing designs.
• Experience with power distribution systems, control systems, and renewable energy technologies, reflecting versatility and industry knowledge.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and present ideas to clients.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Detail-oriented and analytical mindset, capable of identifying potential issues and developing practical solutions efficiently.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project requirements, exhibiting flexibility and resilience.
• Competent in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
• Able to prioritise tasks and manage time, to meet tight project deadlines
• Good technical and proposals and submittals management
• Good technical review ability
• Ability to produce and understand detailed schematic designs
