Job summary

GHD in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the electrical design scope across infrastructure, buildings and transport projects. You will provide technical direction, mentor junior engineers and ensure delivery excellence in compliance with local authorities and international standards.

Responsibilities include leading electrical system design, detailed drawings, calculations, and ensuring DEWA/ADDC compliance while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in the UAE.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and electrical design software.
• Strong understanding of UAE authority requirements and international codes.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
• Excellent problem-solving, coordination and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, earthing and lightning protection.
• Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics and layouts using AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks.
• Conduct electrical calculations: load analysis, short-circuit analysis, voltage drop and cable sizing.
• Ensure compliance with DEWA, ADDC, UAE Fire Code and other authority requirements.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
• Supervise junior engineers and ensure adherence to delivery standards and procedures.
• Provide technical leadership and resolve design challenges using industry best practices.
• Maintain client relationships and ensure repeat business through excellent service and delivery.
• May be responsible for smaller or routine projects as Project Manager.

Role Overview

As a Senior Design Electrical Engineer you will lead the electrical design scope across a variety of infrastructure buildings and transport projects.
