The Project:

Mace is delivering PMC services across a significant portfolio of high-value mixed-use developments. The projects are at various stages of the development cycle and need to be managed through planning, design, procurement, and delivery on what is a multi-year assignment.

Role Overview:

The Senior Design Manager is responsible for implementing the design management system and ensuring its effectiveness in meeting business, statutory, legal, and contractual requirements. The role involves providing leadership to managers and professionals, overseeing all phases of design management, and coordinating with construction, commercial, programme, and procurement teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Define and approve consultant appointments across all disciplines.
2. Lead safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability, and compliance standards for design resources.
3. Develop and manage design resources for projects, ensuring adherence to management systems and project roles.
4. Support business development and work-winning activities.
5. Mentor and develop team members, fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment.
6. Promote technical excellence and support knowledge sharing within the organization.
7. Contribute to the company's sustainability goals, including net zero carbon initiatives.
8. Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations, especially in the UAE.
9. Lead negotiations and support procurement and contractual decisions.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Experience working in the United Arab Emirates is essential for client approval.
2. Good knowledge of design management systems, risk management, and prefabrication/build strategies.
3. Extensive experience delivering various building types across multiple sectors.
4. Strong negotiation skills supporting client and customer focus.
5. Degree in a design-related discipline or equivalent.
