Job description

Responsible for overseeing the development of Architecture and Interior design deliverables through all project stages, including technical reviews, information generation, assessment, program management, documentation, research, and study, as directed by the line manager.

Key Accountabilities

Design Functions:

  • Plan, organize, and direct design activities across the entire project cycle for multiple projects. Serve as the lead design professional within the Design or Technical Department, ensuring quality design, program management, policy implementation, and effective interfacing.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders on design and landscaping, manage development of design documentation, variation orders, RFPs, technical analyses, and design presentations. Maintain risk and change registers for project control.
  • Provide clear guidance to architects and engineers through design reviews, setting aesthetic standards, project goals, site considerations, schedules, and budgets.
  • Establish and follow an effective design review process to ensure project goals are met, value is maximized within budgets, and designs are appropriate and durable for client needs, authorities, and project timelines.
  • Manage procurement of consultants by preparing RFP documents in collaboration with commercial teams and conducting technical evaluations of proposals.
  • Coordinate construction activities, review mockups, show apartments, and residential or mixed-use developments for final implementation.
  • Create detailed in-house design test fits and studies requiring architectural, interior design, or landscaping input.
  • Monitor and maintain project programs, tracking progress and addressing delays to meet milestones.
  • Report to the Executive Director and coordinate project activities with the line manager to achieve team objectives.
  • Maintain records of consultant submissions and manage correspondence and submissions timely.

Manage Relationships:

  • Coordinate with multiple stakeholders, building long-term, robust relationships within integrated teams.
  • Align with the Executive Director - Design to ensure satisfaction with architectural, interior, and landscape design aspects.
  • Coordinate with the line manager to ensure design satisfaction and address remedial actions as needed.
  • Review standards and procedures regularly with architects, heads of divisions, and consultants, ensuring design reviews with internal engineering teams for MEP, structural, and construction coordination.

General Tasks:

  • Perform other design duties as assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture with 10-15 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven expertise in space planning and design management in a senior role for at least 10 years.
  • Experience managing projects through all stages of design and construction.
  • Excellent knowledge of project documentation QA/QC and UAE authority regulations.
  • Experience with leading UAE developers is essential, with a strong understanding of building considerations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit or equivalent, and MS Office.
