• Accurately gathers, completes, and files all project-related documentation in compliance with business policy.
• Adhere to Engineering procedures as described in the Engineering design document.
• Attend design reviews internally and externally, professionally representing CLS Automotive technologies with the authority to make sound technical decisions.
• Collaborate with the Procurement, Test and analysis, and Production departments in completing the design process.
• Compiles and finalizes design concept layouts based on design initiative and inputs from the design team (Design engineers and Chief Designer).
• Conferring with customers, engineers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering products and projects.
• Coordinate with the Chief designer and Engineering director to make swift and accurate decisions.
• Creating and updating ICDs. DFMEAs
• Demonstrated skills in project management, presentation, and reporting skills.
• Ensure implementation of correct drawing standards and sign-off on drawings, securing full data integrity during the release process.
• Ensure that all project activities were executed according to the set time, budget and targets.
• Ensure that the suppliers confirm the requirements as set out in the project specifications.
• Estimating material, labour, or construction costs for budget preparation.
• Follow organisational safety and health rules and work in a safe manner.
• Incorporate inputs from the Procurement, Test and analysis, and Production departments during the design process.
• Lead the design on the subsystem level and take responsibilities such as system integrator on the specific sub-system.
• Maintain the technical integrity of allocated designs during the development phase, including integration at a system level.
• Manages processes across the acquisition phase.
• Perform concept designs, calculations and layouts, evaluating finite element simulation results.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• Performing a wide range of engineering tasks by operating relevant computer SW.Prepare detailed layouts and manufacturing drawings of components and assemblies.
• Prepare solid models of components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies, employing file structure guidelines, number protocols and design standards.
• Preparing specifications for purchases of equipment and materials.
• Provide engineering assistance during the building and testing of prototypes (closed-loop feedback).
• Supervising or training project team members.
• Support the ILS team by providing related information on the sub-system level.
• Support the open flow of information during prototyping and manufacturing.
• Support the Procurement team with supplier evaluation and selection during the procurement / design cycle.
• Support the Production team by capturing redlines and raising Engineering design change requests where necessary.
• Track the development process as per quality system procedures, ensuring that relevant activities and reviews are completed to reduce design risk.
• Verify that correct drawing standards are always employed.
• Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential engineering projects and studies.

Qualifications : Education :

• Tertiary education in a related field.
• Diploma or Certification in a mechanical engineering field.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering

And / or

• An MSc, or PhD in a related field (preferred).

Experience :

• Engineering experience : 6+ years.
• Experience in leading a sub-system on a design level
• Experience in testing and prototyping.
• Experience working on CAD and PLM software such as NX and Teamcenter.
• Knowledge of 3D modelling, engineering calculation, simulation, off-road mobility, vehicle tests, mechanical assembly, and vehicle systems.
• Must be an accomplished Senior Design Engineer or equivalent.

Skills :

• A proven ability to ensure products are manufacturable, fit for purpose and adhere to ‘design for manufacturing and assembly’ principles.
• Conferring with customers, engineers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering products and projects.
• Excellent coaching skills.
• Experience working on CAD and PLM software such as NX and Teamcenter.
• Knowledge of 3D modelling, engineering calculation, simulation, off-road mobility, vehicle tests, mechanical assembly, and vehicle systems.
• Problem solving / analysis.
• Solid team building and leadership skills.
• Superior communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with clients, team members and suppliers worldwide.
• Work systematically.

Certifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

And MSc, or PhD in the engineering field will be preferred.
