Qualifications

JOB PURPOSE

The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and storage systems. This role ensures data quality, optimizes data retrieval, and supports accurate decision-making by enabling reliable data access across the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Architect and implement high-performing data storage solutions by leveraging relational and cloud-native technologies.
• Continuously monitor storage solutions to ensure they support fast data retrieval, efficient storage usage, and scalability.
• Analyze data sources and business needs to create efficient and reusable pipelines that extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various systems. Ensure these pipelines are scalable to handle growing data volumes and adaptable to future business requirements.
• Establish and enforce validation and cleansing routines to detect and correct data anomalies.
• Design monitoring processes to ensure real-time data accuracy and completeness, enabling trusted insights across departments.
• Engage with internal stakeholders to gather data requirements, recommend best practices, and build custom datasets or views. Ensure their models and dashboards are powered by optimized and well-governed data sources.
• Work closely with data governance teams to define and apply standards related to data ownership, security, privacy, and compliance. Maintain data catalogs and lineage to support regulatory requirements and internal audits.
• Set up performance metrics and logging systems to proactively detect issues in pipelines or storage.
• Investigate root causes, resolve data delays or errors, and continuously fine-tune infrastructure for peak performance.
• Identify repetitive or error-prone tasks and replace them with automated processes using orchestration tools, scripts, and scheduling frameworks to increase reliability and save engineering time.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation covering data workflows, architecture diagrams, transformation logic, and standard operating procedures to ensure transparency, knowledge sharing, and compliance readiness.
• Stay informed on advancements in data engineering technologies. Test, benchmark, and propose modern tools and frameworks that could increase data efficiency, scalability, or reduce cost.

LANGUAGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Fluency in English.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Proficiency in MS SQL Server and Oracle database management.
• Advanced programming skills in Python or Scala for data pipeline development.

Specific Skills

• Strong knowledge of cloud-based data warehousing platforms, notably Snowflake.
• Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and database design principles.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or Information Technology, or Business Administration, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE

• Four to six years of experience in Data Engineering, or a similar role.
