Qualifications

Job Overview

A leading aviation and travel services organization in Dubai is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join its Enterprise Data & Analytics team. This position offers the opportunity to design, build, and maintain modern data platforms that support business intelligence, reporting, and analytics across large-scale operations.

The successful candidate will work with cross-functional teams to develop secure, scalable, and high-performance data solutions using cloud technologies, big data platforms, and modern engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Solution Development

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data engineering solutions.
• Build and optimize data pipelines that process large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
• Translate business and technical requirements into efficient data solutions.
• Ensure data platforms are secure, reliable, and optimized for performance.

Data Pipeline & Integration

• Develop batch and real-time data ingestion pipelines.
• Integrate data from multiple business systems into centralized data platforms.
• Support data warehousing and data lake solutions for enterprise analytics.
• Monitor and improve data quality, consistency, and reliability.

Data Analysis & Modelling

• Perform source system analysis and data profiling.
• Create and maintain data models and metadata documentation.
• Develop source-to-target mappings for data integration projects.
• Support business intelligence and analytics initiatives with high-quality data.

Testing & Maintenance

• Conduct unit testing and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Resolve data pipeline failures and optimize system performance.
• Maintain documentation for data engineering processes and technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and follow engineering best practices.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Work closely with data architects, analysts, software engineers, and business stakeholders.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and solution planning.
• Identify opportunities to improve automation, efficiency, and system scalability.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices in data engineering.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• A Master’s degree or specialization in Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, or Data Science is an advantage.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Data Engineering or a related field.
• Experience developing and supporting enterprise data platforms.
• Hands-on experience with data warehouse and data lake technologies.
• Experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud services is preferred.
• Aviation or airline industry experience is beneficial but not mandatory.

Required Skills

• Strong SQL programming and query optimization.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Kafka, or Databricks.
• Knowledge of Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), and cloud-based data solutions.
• Understanding of ETL/ELT development and data integration processes.
• Experience with data modelling and enterprise data architecture.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools including Git, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, and Jira.
• Knowledge of Python, Java, or Scala programming.
• Experience with Power BI, Snowflake, or other business intelligence platforms is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
