Job summary

Set2recruit LTD is seeking a Senior Data Architect to build a new Data Platform from the ground up for a specialist technology company in Abu Dhabi. This on-prem role includes air-gapped environments and a chance to shape governance, storage, processing, and access across complex products.

The role requires onsite work in Abu Dhabi with influence over architectural decisions and alignment with engineering roadmaps. Strong data governance and infra experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience across data engineering/data architecture and ability to make high-level architectural decisions while understanding practical build/operate needs.
• Strong experience with databases, distributed processing, messaging, orchestration, and data governance.
• Experience in defence, government, utilities, critical infrastructure, or other mission-critical environments is a plus.

Relocation to Abu Dhabi Required

We're hiring a Senior Data Architect to help build a new Data Platform from the ground up for a specialist technology company in Abu Dhabi.

This is a proper architecture role. You'll have a big say in how data is stored, processed, governed, and accessed across a range of complex products and systems.

You'll be working in a predominantly on-prem environment, including systems that can be air-gapped or disconnected, so this isn't your typical cloud-first data role.

What You'll Be Getting Involved In

• Designing a shared Data Platform across multiple products
• Data lakes, warehouses and data management architecture
• Building the architecture behind operational, analytics and AI workloads
• Working with structured, unstructured, time-series, geospatial and binary data
• Designing for on-prem, air-gapped and low-latency environments
• Setting standards around governance, security and access control
• Working closely with engineering teams on the wider technical roadmap

What we're looking for:

• You'll have experience across data engineering/data architecture and be comfortable making high-level architectural decisions while still understanding what it takes to build and operate these systems.
• Strong experience across databases, distributed processing, messaging, orchestration, and data governance is important.
• Experience in defence, government, utilities, critical infrastructure, or other mission-critical environments would be particularly interesting.
