Qualifications

Job Description
AESG are currently recruiting a Senior Cost Manager to join our growing cost management team based in UAE working on various large scale building projects. The role is based on site in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
As a Senior Cost Manager, you will support project leaders in generating a high standard of service delivery, achieving successful outcomes for our clients, capturing, and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation, and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider.
You should be a self-motivated and client facing professional, with the ability to manage multiple projects and clients or developing your career towards that objective. The role will primarily be pre-contract based, but with the opportunity to assist on post-contract-based projects as required.
This exciting position is to work within a market leading & growing team of cost management professionals, working alongside leading global architects, interior designers, and engineers, advising major industry clients.
The successful candidate will have experience working as part of a dedicated consultancy team delivering successful cost management services on major projects. The role will offer opportunity for progression and career development. You will need to demonstrate relevant and recent experience with appropriately sized projects as well as the ability to engage and communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and contractors. The ideal candidate will have a technical and experience-based QS background, a solid understanding of numerous design standards, and the ability to communicate advice appropriately and effectively. MRICS achievement or aspiration is preferred but not necessarily mandatory for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Day-to-day management of cost management activities on your projects
  2. Supporting and preparing project cost estimates from concept through various stages of design using experience, historical data, and parametric ratios
  3. Utilisation of the existing AESG developed digital tools and contributing to the creation of new and bespoke tools for our clients
  4. Advanced cost modelling (Excel)
  5. Estimating and functional cost planning (CostX)
  6. Advising and driving value engineering prerogatives
  7. Undertaking cost management services with limited supervision
  8. Delivering all work outputs in an accurate and timely manner
  9. Providing support to the team leader/service leaders in the cost management of projects
  10. Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner; meeting, negotiating, and corresponding with clients to form strong working relationships
  11. Providing reasoned advice on complex matters, understanding when to escalate matters to superiors
  12. Providing accurate cost advice and reporting to our clients
  13. Maintaining effective communication to ensure all information is available for the successful completion of projects; liaising with other managers to ensure efficient financial control
  14. Independently manage complex projects and resolve complex project issues
  15. Provide mentorship and support to the graduate and junior cost management team
  16. Support the commercial success and stability of the cost management division
  17. Ensure the successful delivery of projects to exemplary levels of quality
  18. Demonstrate expertise in discipline with a proven track record of success
  19. Support the development of procedures to improve division function and efficiency
  20. Supporting client account management, monthly invoicing, purchase order management and reviewing contractual terms

Essential Skills:
  1. Experience in delivering high quality cost management / quantity surveying services
  2. Previous technical delivery experience gained within a global consultancy firm is preferred
  3. Middle East experience essential
  4. Experience or exposure to regional projects is an advantage
  5. Advanced utilisation and application of Microsoft excel for the creation of cost models
  6. Utilising digital software for delivery of cost management services
  7. Ability to successfully manage and prioritise more than one project at a time
  8. Professional qualification (RICS or similar)
  9. BSc, BTech or MSc in Quantity Surveying or Contracts-related field
  10. Minimum 7+ years of working experience
  11. Ability to lead a large projects with minimal support
  12. Good technical writing, client-facing, and communication skills
  13. Well-organized, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined, and commercially astute
  14. A team player with a can-do attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible
