Overview

We are looking for Senior Corporate Accountant to join our Magellan Capital team in Dubai. We are a growing DIFC-based investment management firm. We invest in high quality and deep value businesses across the capital spectrum, in private and public markets. Our team in Dubai is growing rapidly and to support that growth we are looking for a Senior Corporate Accountant in our Finance team. Our team is young, multi-cultural and ambitious. The Role

The Senior Corporate Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day financial operations and the reporting of the management company and its affiliates. The role requires strong technical accounting expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to manage and improve processes, systems, and controls. This position will also act as a key point of contact for auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

General Ledger Management:

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger for the management company and its affiliates
  • Prepare and record journal entries for revenue, expenses, accruals and intercompany transactions
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.

Financial Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation of internal management accounts, variance analysis, and executive reporting packages
  • Help ensure timely delivery of quarterly and annual financial reporting to management and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and applicable DIFC reporting standards.

Expense Management & Analysis:

  • Track and analyze operating expenses, including rent, travel, and professional services
  • Work closely with department heads to manage budgets and forecast operating expenses
  • Identify cost control opportunities.

Cash & Treasury:

  • Reconcile bank accounts and monitor daily cash activity across multiple legal entities
  • Assist with cash forecasting and treasury management functions
  • Coordinate with banks and treasury advisors as needed.

Audit & Tax Support:

  • Support annual audits and tax return preparation by compiling workpapers and responding to auditor and tax advisor requests
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.

Process Improvement:

  • Participate in the enhancement of accounting processes, internal controls, and automation initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows using technology and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Recognised accounting qualification (CMA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, etc.)
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally working in a corporate accounting or group finance role of an investment manager
  • Strong knowledge of investment accounting principles (US GAAP, IFRS)
  • Experience with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite) and strong Excel skills
  • Familiarity with investment management industry a plus (e.g., knowledge of management company vs. fund structures)
  • High attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
