WSP in the Middle East is currently seeking a Senior Consultant – Façade to join our team in the UAE. The Senior Consultant will be responsible for designing and delivering façade access solutions in line with international standards and industry best practices. This role involves ensuring high-quality output within the façade access team and supporting other specialist disciplines. The successful candidate should stay updated on the latest technical advancements in façade access systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical design input to facade access projects.
- Consider the façade access from a holistic whole-building approach, rather than an equipment-based approach, ensuring safe, dedicated access is available to all facades..
- Liaise with the Facade Engineering team in particular but also other technical and commercial disciplines during the delivery of a project and ongoing management of the team. Develop the reglazing strategy in conjunction with the Façade Engineering team.
- Produce reports at the end of various design phases.
- Provide support and guidance to the Technical Working Group (TWG) where appropriate.
- Keep up to date with industry developments with respect to own your discipline and understand and appreciate the basic technical principles and drivers of other disciplines.
- Must be capable of producing and reviewing calculations in relation to facade access equipment.
- Responsible for executing CAD and BIM design tasks as required.
- Responsible for drafting AutoCAD drawings, maintaining quality and accuracy.
- Research new façade access systems and techniques, and stay abreast of developments in your relevant technical field.
- Bring a technical understanding of the relevant codes and standards, including CDM guidelines and EN standards.
- Carry out engineering load calculations to the relevant standards, considering dynamic loading to the building. Bring relevant and varied experience to the position, and have specific experience in façade access systems.
- Very good experience of facade access front-end design.
- Carry out factory and site inspections to assess the quality and conformance of equipment provided by the BMU contractor.
- Utilize Microsoft Teams and other means of communication to coordinate with colleagues out of the office or abroad.
- Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to your line manager.
- Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies.
- Review the work of colleagues and peers for Quality Control and provide constructive feedback.
- Attend team and project meetings as required.
- Contribute to the delivery of the business unit strategy.
- Support the company’s approach to sustainability.
- Identify improvements (where possible) to enhance WSP ME’s service to clients.
- Lead by example and ensure QMS compliance.
- Complete accurate timesheets by the set deadline.
- Feedback on all business development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil or Structural Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in façade consultancy, preferably within the Middle East region.
- Strong knowledge of façade materials, systems, and industry standards.
