Job Summary:
The Structural Engineer is responsible for producing and maintaining structural deliverables (including calculations, datasheets, technical specifications, material requisitions, bid evaluations, schedules, MTOs, GAD reviews, detailed drawings, and work volumes) in accordance with industry standards, codes, and client specifications, within the schedule and budget set by the Lead Structural Engineer. Significant experience in onshore/offshore oil and gas projects and proficiency in Staad Pro calculations are essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Lead, coordinate, mentor, and manage discipline teams on projects as needed.
- Ensure the safe, effective, and successful implementation of civil and structural engineering activities within budget and schedule constraints.
- Assist in developing specifications, datasheets, calculations, drawings, and material take-offs.
- Prepare material requisitions, evaluate technical bids, and review vendor drawings.
- Gather inputs from relevant disciplines for structural design and manage weight control throughout project stages.
- Perform engineering calculations using Staad Pro and Excel, and compile calculation reports.
- Guide designers in preparing drawings and lead the design team, taking ownership of assigned tasks.
- Develop designs that meet functional requirements and suit other disciplines and customer needs.
- Review and verify designs, drawings, and data from other parties or execution offices.
- Review material take-offs and bill of materials, ensuring quantities are within budget and documenting any changes with approvals.
- Identify and communicate issues affecting quality, deadlines, or costs to relevant parties.
- Establish effective communication and relationships with leads, managers, and clients.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors for engineering activities.
- Assist in structural engineering activities on projects and tenders under the guidance of the Lead Engineer.
- Adhere to HSE requirements stipulated by the company and clients.
- Be prepared to visit yards during construction and suggest design improvements.
- Maintain quality documentation and report non-compliances for process improvements.
- Perform other duties as required; the list is not exhaustive and may change.
Minimum Requirements:
- 12-15 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, with at least 10 years in a similar position, working on EPC projects involving analysis, design, and detailing of steel and RCC structures.
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent.
- Proficiency in software like Staad Pro and Navisworks.
- Good knowledge of codes and standards (AISC, ASTM, API, BS, etc.).
- Basic understanding of constructability, operability, and maintainability requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
- Capability to work on fast-track projects and deliver within schedule.
- Strong work ethic and proactive approach to project delivery.
