A leading engineering firm in Dubai is seeking a Senior Civil Designer to lead the development of civil and structural designs for onshore Oil & Gas projects. The ideal candidate will have over 15 years of experience, a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, and strong skills in design tools. This role includes mentoring junior staff and ensuring adherence to international standards.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of civil and structural design experience in onshore Oil & Gas projects.
• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in FEED and Detailed Engineering phases.
• Familiarity with soil-structure interaction and foundation design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and review of civil and structural designs for onshore Oil & Gas facilities.
• Prepare and validate engineering deliverables such as GA drawings and design calculations.
• Interface with other disciplines to ensure alignment of civil works.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Civil Designer for one of our clients with the following details:

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Dubai, UAE

Employment Type: 2+ years Contract

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university (Master's Degree preferred.)
• 15+ years of civil and structural design experience in onshore Oil & Gas projects.
• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in FEED and Detailed Engineering phases.
• Strong working knowledge of design tools such as STAAD.Pro, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with soil-structure interaction, static and dynamic structural analysis, and foundation design.
• Sound knowledge of relevant international design codes and standards.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Preferred Qualifications: GCC or Middle East project experience is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and review of civil and structural designs for onshore Oil & Gas facilities, including foundations, pipe racks, roads, culverts, drainage systems, and equipment support structures.

Prepare and validate engineering deliverables such as:

• General Arrangement (GA) drawings
• Foundation and structural drawings
• Material Take-Offs (MTOs)
• Design calculations
• Construction specifications and datasheets
• Ensure adherence to project specifications, international codes (e.g., ACI, BS, ASCE, Eurocode), and client standards.
• Interface with other disciplines (e.g., piping, mechanical, electrical) to ensure alignment and integration of civil works within the overall design.
• Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, HAZOPs, model reviews, and constructability sessions.
• Provide technical input to procurement, review vendor documents, and resolve engineering queries.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and draftsmen.
• Support construction and commissioning teams by resolving field issues and providing technical guidance as required.
