Job description

An outstanding opportunity for a seasoned and dynamic Business Development professional to join a renowned US firm in their Abu Dhabi office.

Under the general supervision and direction of the Director of Business Development, the Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for meeting the practice and business development needs of the practices of the Abu Dhabi office, while working closely and collaboratively with the Dubai office, and the wider Firm.

You will drive the strategic plan and focus for the Abu Dhabi office and the Middle East region more broadly, working closely with the Director of International Business Development in London, and the Senior Business Development Manager in the Dubai office;

  • Promote the Abu Dhabi office and the Middle East region internally and externally and help facilitate information sharing and collaboration with the wider Firm.
  • Identify opportunities to offer new services or enhance existing services to attract high-value work and enhance value provided to their clients.
  • Develop and implement lawyer and practice group business and action plans by coordinating and tracking the group’s efforts. Monitor implementation to ensure that deadlines are met, and commitments are kept.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals/RFPs/presentations in coordination with the lawyers and other relevant BD team members. Keep track of pitch wins and losses.
  • Work with the Communications Team in relation to profile raising opportunities, social media activity, awards submissions, press releases and implementing a strategic comms/PR strategy.
  • Prepare various legal directory submissions working with the Senior Business Development Coordinator, External Legal Directory Consultant (used for strategically important submissions) and the Communications Team.
  • Work with the Marketing Technology Team to utilise various technology tools to target existing clients and generate new business to grow demand.
  • Track and maintain transactions and cases for proposals, league tables, etc. and update Foundation and marketing materials accordingly.
  • Ensure that the Firm’s marketing materials are updated regularly and appropriately reflect lawyer and practice group experience and expertise.
  • Identify, assess, and coordinate conferences, seminars, forums, sponsorships, speaking and writing opportunities to ensure they are in line with the goals of the practice.
Educational Qualifications/Job Experience Requirements:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong writing and editing skills.
  • Strong work ethic and service orientation.
  • Strong communication skills, with a focus on collaboration and a team mindset.

  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow instructions.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload, work independently and as a member of teams, and complete tasks under deadlines, as necessary.
  • Poise, tact and professionalism when interacting with internal and external contacts.
  • Strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint are essential; experience with Excel, InterAction and Foundation is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a marketing-related field. Advanced degree or Masters, a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience preferably within a law firm environment.
