Job summary

Kagool in the UAE is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support a SAP BW to Azure migration and modernisation programme. You will run workshops with business stakeholders to capture reporting needs and translate them into clear technical specs for delivery teams.

You will bridge business, data and reporting teams, with knowledge of SAP BW, SAC and Power BI, shaping future data models and reports for a cloud-based analytics platform.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support a large-scale SAP BW to Azure data migration and modernisation programme.

The role will play a critical part during the initial Assessment and Design phase, working closely with business stakeholders to understand existing reporting and data requirements, conduct workshops, identify gaps and improvement opportunities, and define the scope for migration, enhancements and new builds.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working across business, data and reporting teams, with sufficient understanding of SAP, Power BI and data models to translate business requirements into clear specifications for technical delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate business discovery and requirements-gathering workshops with key stakeholders.
• Understand existing SAP BW and SAC reports, business processes, KPIs, data requirements and reporting dependencies.
• Gather, document and finalise requirements for report enhancements and new builds in collaboration with business users.
• Assess existing reporting requirements and identify gaps, improvement opportunities, rationalisation opportunities and future-state requirements.
• Mapping the requirements on Reports back to BW objects and fields to enable data model creation for new reports
• Understand existing and proposed Power BI reports, semantic/data models and underlying data structures in BW and BODS to support enhancement discussions.
• Translate business requirements into clear functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and scoping documents.
• Work closely with Data Architects, Data Engineers, Power BI Developers and SAP SMEs to ensure requirements are technically understood and achievable.
• Support the technical delivery team during the Build phase, providing requirement clarification and managing business queries.
• Coordinate and support testing, business validation and UAT, ensuring delivered reports and data models meet agreed requirements.
• Maintain traceability between business requirements, enhancements, reports, data models and delivered solutions.
• Support stakeholder reviews and obtain business agreement/sign-off on requirements and designs.

Required Experience & Skills

• Strong experience as a Senior Business Analyst within Data, Analytics, BI or Data Modernisation programmes.
• Proven experience conducting business workshops, stakeholder interviews and requirement-gathering sessions.
• Experience working on data migration, BI modernisation, reporting transformation or cloud data programmes.
• Good understanding of SAP BW, SAC and BO and its role within enterprise reporting and analytics.

Familiarity with SAP source systems including:

• SAP ECC
• SAP S/4HANA
• SAP Ariba
• SAP SuccessFactors
• Ability to understand requirements originating from non-SAP enterprise applications,
• Good understanding of Power BI, including reports, dashboards, KPIs and underlying data/semantic models.
• Ability to understand conceptual data models and discuss how business requirements translate into data models and reporting layers.
• Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to challenge existing requirements constructively and identify opportunities for simplification, rationalisation and improvement.

Role Across the Project Lifecycle

The Senior Business Analyst will have a particularly important role during the Assessment and Design phase, helping establish the agreed scope and future-state requirements.

During subsequent Build, Testing and Validation phases, the role will continue to support technical teams by clarifying requirements, reviewing developed solutions, coordinating business validation and ensuring that enhancements and new builds remain aligned with the agreed business requirements.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate combines strong business analysis and stakeholder engagement skills with practical knowledge of enterprise data and reporting environments. They should be capable of engaging confidently with senior business stakeholders while also working effectively with SAP, Azure, Data Engineering and Power BI technical teams.

Experience supporting an SAP BW migration to Azure, Databricks, Fabric or another modern cloud data platform would be highly advantageous.
