Job summary

Bureau Veritas is seeking a Bridge Engineer in the UAE with a strong background in structural and foundation design, soil mechanics, and seismic analysis. You will model bridges using AutoCAD, SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD, and other FE tools, inspect sites, and prepare technical reports for internal and external clients.

The role requires at least 5 years of experience, knowledge of AASHTO, hydraulics, and bridge dynamics, and familiar with international standards. On-site work in Abu Dhabi is expected.

Qualifications

• University degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Post-graduate Degree in Structural/Bridge Engineering.
• Foundation engineering; Soil mechanics; Prestressed concrete; Steel structures; Bridge inspection and assessment; Traffic engineering; Retrofit and rehabilitation.
• Core knowledge in advanced mathematics, mechanics, strength of materials, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and vibration analysis.
• Geotechnical knowledge for foundations, soil behavior, and bearing capacity.
• Technical competencies in structural analysis and design with concrete, steel, and composite materials.
• Familiar with different bridge types and their components.
• Load analysis using design standards i.e., AASHTO.
• Application of hydraulics, seismic, and bridge dynamics principles.
• Advanced knowledge in engineering design and analysis software.
• Familiarity with international building codes, environmental regulations, safety engineering, and risk management.
• Not less than 5 years as Bridge Engineer.
• Carried out independent structural analysis, prepare calculations, and create drawings.
• Client engagement.
• Independent technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis of structural forces, stresses, and loads to ensure bridges are safe and meet safety standards.
• Review structural calculations and use software to model bridges and test design options.
• Inspect construction sites to verify work quality matches plans.
• Assess condition and safety of existing bridges identifying damage and structural problems.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports.
• Attend meetings with client and authority to discuss findings.
