Job summary

FitNext Consulting is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain reliable backend services for a regulated fintech platform focused on AI and token economy. The role centers onTypeScript-based development, API integrations, data modeling, and secure coding practices.

You will collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to translate complex requirements into scalable, secure solutions, including observability, testing, and compliance alignment.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience in production systems.
• Strong TypeScript and Node.js proficiency.
• Experience designing and integrating REST APIs.
• Experience with relational databases, data modeling, and SQL.
• Understanding of authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices.
• Experience with automated testing, Git, and collaboration workflows.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) and critical review of AI-generated code.
• Ability to investigate production issues and make sound technical decisions.
• Willingness to work on-site in Dubai or remotely from Europe.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Build APIs and integrations with external platforms and financial service providers.
• Design data models and optimize database queries for performance and reliability.
• Implement asynchronous workflows, background jobs, and error-handling mechanisms.
• Ensure services handle sensitive data and transactions securely and consistently.
• Write automated tests, review code, and maintain technical documentation.
• Monitor production services, troubleshoot issues, and improve system observability.
• Collaborate with product and compliance teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
