Job summary

Confidential is seeking a highly experienced Senior Backend Engineer to design and build scalable AI-backed backend services for an enterprise platform. You will architect secure, high-performance systems and orchestrate AI agents while integrating SAP and other enterprise data sources.

You will collaborate with AI, Data Science, and Frontend teams to ensure production-ready delivery, robust security, and reliability in on-premise environments including air-gapped deployments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, preferably with distributed systems or production AI platforms.
• Proficiency in Python with FastAPI and/or Django.
• Strong programming skills in Go or Java.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, gRPC, and API gateways such as Kong or NGINX.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and vector databases (Weaviate/Milvus).
• Knowledge of AI agent frameworks, RAG, and enterprise integrations.
• Familiarity with SAP integration protocols including OData and SOAP is a plus.
• Experience in secure, high-availability environments and good documentation skills.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI agent orchestration systems, workflow logic, and scalable microservices.
• Build secure API integrations with SAP S/4HANA, SAP Ariba, and enterprise data platforms.
• Develop RAG services using vector databases and retrieval technologies.
• Integrate external data sources through secure API connectors.
• Implement authentication, RBAC, audit logging, and data protection mechanisms.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building secure and high-performance backend solutions, integrating enterprise platforms, and supporting AI-driven applications in on-premise environments. Requirements

• Strong understanding of REST APIs, gRPC, and API gateways such as Kong or NGINX.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL and vector databases such as Weaviate or Milvus.
• Knowledge of AI agent frameworks, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and enterprise integrations.
• Familiarity with SAP integration protocols including OData and SOAP is an advantage.
• Experience working in secure, high-availability environments. Background in FinTech, healthcare, or defense is a plus.
