This newly created role reports to our Management Accountant and is part of our second phase, moving from farm construction to operating. You will be working with some exceptionally talented people, giving you exposure to true innovation with absolute determination to break with tradition and with an unrelenting focus on doing what is right, not what is easy.

Your role in As It Should Be’s success will predominantly focus on the preparation of financial statements, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This is a new team, and the team will grow quickly along with the business, therefore there will be great opportunities for upward mobility and career growth as the business expands.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute daily accounting activities in accordance with IFRS and maintain the Company’s General Ledger in all aspects.
  • Manage daily sales invoicing, supplier purchase orders and payments.
  • Manage and maintain AR and AP. Ensure that they are within organisational targets/KPIs.
  • Responsible for Capex, prepayments and accruals.
  • Book and reconcile monthly payroll and WPS.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Ensure timely reporting of all monthly financial information and successfully lead month end close.
  • Ensure completion and review of all post-close reconciliations (main balance sheet account reconciliations).
  • Ensure all balances are properly supported and documented.
  • Prepare for and ensure a clean and timely year end audit.
  • Prepare and submit the VAT, WHT, CIT.
  • Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Responsible for banking and related procedures.
  • Support monthly financial closing activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
  • Focus on cost of sales calculations and review assumptions with team on a regular basis.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests.
  • Collaborate with team members to support overall company and department goals and objectives.
  • Ensure that the company’s management principles, policies, and programs are consistently practiced
  • Be nimble and drive process improvements and automate workflows for efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business processes.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • CPA certification or accounting qualification/part-qualification in ACA, CIMA or ACCA.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience preferably in an agricultural, manufacturing or retail industry.
  • Experience in Corporate Tax.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
