Job summary

Caliberly is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its finance team in Dubai. You will manage full-cycle accounting, ensuring accuracy in general ledger, reconciliations and monthly close, while supporting regulatory reporting and audits in a fast-paced fintech environment.

The role requires IFRS knowledge, UAE VAT expertise, and strong Excel/ERP skills. You will mentor junior staff and drive process improvements for scalable finance operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field; professional qualification preferred.
• Minimum 57 years experience in accounting roles preferably within fintech payments services or fast-growing financial-technology companies.
• Strong expertise in accounting standards (IFRS/IAS) and financial reporting for payments businesses.
• Proven experience in bank/gateway reconciliations, ledgers, audits and controls.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting: general ledger, entries, accruals and month-end close.
• Oversee AP/AR: invoices, collections, payments and vendor management.
• Perform bank gateway reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare and review financial statements and schedules per IFRS/fintech requirements.
• Ensure UAE VAT/GST compliance, tax and internal audit readiness.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis for leadership.
• Assist with audits: liaise with external auditors and resolve queries.
• Develop internal controls, policies and documentation for scalability.
• Collaborate with operations, compliance and treasury on financial impact and improvements.
• Mentor junior staff and promote high-quality work across the team.

Job Title - Senior Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team in a fast-paced fintech environment. The successful candidate will manage full-cycle accounting functions including month-end close reconciliations regulatory reporting and support the finance leadership with analysis controls and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting: general ledger maintenance journal entries accruals prepayments and month-end close.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable: ensure invoices are processed accurately and on time monitor collections and vendor payments.
• Conduct bank payment gateway and reconciliation processes: verify transactions identify discrepancies investigate and resolve differences.
• Prepare & review financial statements management accounts and supporting schedules in line with applicable accounting standards and fintech-service specifics (e.g. payment-service revenues virtual wallets).
• Ensure compliance with UAE financial regulations VAT/GST peer-entity tax/legal requirements and internal audit controls.
• Support budgeting forecasting and financial analysis: provide insights variance analysis and recommendations to finance leadership.
• Assist with audit processes: liaise with external auditors prepare audit schedules address audit queries and implement auditor recommendations.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies internal controls workflow and documentation standards to support business scalability and regulatory demands.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations payments compliance treasury) to understand financial impacts of business activities and implement process improvements.
• Provide mentorship to junior accounting staff: review work develop team capability and ensure adherence to high-quality standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field; professional qualification such as ACCA CPA CMA is strongly preferred.
• Minimum 57 years experience in accounting roles preferably within fintech payments services or fast-growing financial-technology companies.
• Strong expertise in accounting standards (e.g. IFRS IAS) journal entries reconciliations and financial reporting for payment-services business models.
• Proven experience in managing bank/gateway reconciliations ledger review audit coordination and financial controls in a payments environment.
• Excellent analytical and technical skills: strong Excel capabilities working knowledge of ERP/accounting systems ability to interpret financial data and extract insights.
• Excellent communication skills (written & verbal); able to collaborate across teams and present findings to senior management.
• Detail-oriented reliable able to handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines in a dynamic fintech setting.
• Fluency in English is required; Arabic language proficiency is a plus.
