Job summary

Zayed University seeks a Senior Accommodation Officer to coordinate student accommodation services, ensuring a safe, compliant residential environment aligned with university policies. The role covers allocation, operations, and direct student support to uphold an inclusive campus experience.

The position involves handling material accommodation requests, producing accessible formats, maintaining records, coordinating with suppliers, and promoting accessibility awareness through campus

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant field is required.
• Certification in a relevant field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process material accommodation requests from faculty and students.
• Provide curriculum accommodations (literacy, math, science, etc.) for all courses.
• Convert print to audio and electronic formats (Word) and handle PowerPoint to Word conversions.
• Convert print to Braille or enlarge print as needed.
• Translate visual content to tactile representations and adapt library materials.
• Maintain tracking mechanisms and statistical records of accommodation requests.
• Coordinate with suppliers to source accessibility resources and training for volunteers.
• Organize activities to promote inclusion of students with accessibility issues.
• Support facilities and hospitality arrangements for accommodated students and people with disabilities.
• Maintain the Disability Student Allowance data base and ensure recommended support is acted upon (financial and academic).

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Student Accessibility Services Department is seeking a Senior Accommodation Officer who will be responsible for supporting the delivery and coordination of student accommodation services, including allocation, operations, and student support, to ensure a safe, compliant, and student-centered residential environment, in line with approved policies, procedures, and institutional requirements.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as the first point of contact for faculty and students to receive the material accommodation requests. Also to ensure proper reformulation of accommodated information.
• Provide all types of curriculums’ content & format accommodations for all courses (literacy, math, science etc.):
• Print to Audio conversion using a scanner and voice production
• Print to electronic (Word file) conversion.
• Power Point to Word conversion.
• Print to Braille conversion.
• Enlarge print
• Visual depictions to tactile representations.
• Accommodate the library material/ books for students with disability.
• Provide material accommodation training for ZU volunteers.
• Maintain spread sheet statistical records of material accommodations quantity and requests.
• Maintain and works with all office equipment needed for material accommodation.
• Develop and maintains tracking mechanisms, as required.
• Work with suppliers to ensure that Accessibility is aware of resources on the market;
• Formulate a survey to get feedback from instructors and students with disability on the accommodated materials.
• Organize and runs ZU activities that help promote the acceptance of students with accessibility issues.
• Support in organizing facilities and hospitality.
• Maintain Disability Student Allowance data base showing what support each student is receiving.
• Ensure all DSA recommended supported is acted upon (financial as well as academic)
